A man with Californian origins killed himself at the Universal Studios, near a Despicable Me ride on Friday. Guests at the Universal Studios have been horrified to watch the scene.

By going to the Universal Studios, the man committed a crime: there was a restraining order that forbid him to go there, since Universal Studios was the place where his ex girlfriend was working. He arrived at the Universal Studios near 2:15 PM, says a report by the Los Angeles County police.

The ex girlfriend of the man who would later commit suicide alerted the security of his presence. They have found the man, whose identity was unknown, in a area where smoking was allowed, in the back of the Minion Maybe ride.

When confronted with the security, the man took out a gun from one of his pockets. Then, he pointed the gun to his head and held it like that, according to a statement made by the police for the Los Angeles Times.

Even if the security workers started to try and convince him not to pull the trigger and put the gun down, it took less than 30 seconds for the fatal shot to be fired. The man committed suicide and by doing so he terrified the visitors at the Universal Studios. Within the witnesses who have been horrified, there was Zanell Mitchell. She was just finishing her ride and was getting off together with her mom. She was able to see the whole unfolding of the tragic events.

“I couldn’t stop crying because I was really, really scared,”

Zanell Mitchell said, in a statement for the NBC Los Angeles.

It seems that Universal Studios still has some breaches into their security, since the man was able to enter Universal with a gun in his back pocket. Officials say that he was able to do so since the park has not metal detectors. Unfortunately, this may be a clue for the necessity of such detectors in the security of objectives that attract a large number of visitors. However, the security at Universal Studios still searches your bags.

The Universal Studios park has not been closed. Authorities have started an investigation to analyze whether their security needs improvement or not, according to a spokeswoman.

The man who committed suicide and his ex girlfriend had a strong, even if it was illegal for him to be near her. They had a child together.
