Match.com New iPhone App Released – Better Than Tinder?

match iphone appA great thing about apps is that they help you meet new people and that can lead to friendship, dates and even great love affairs. One of the most popular dating apps at the moment is, of course, Tinder. But Tinder may have a new competitor because another famous dating site has launched their first dating app for iPhone users. Match.com new iPhone app promises a redesigned experience for its users in the form of Match 3.0 for iOS.

The Match.com app takes cues from other dating applications and even comes with a new logo design. All this, Match.com says, for an enjoyable mobile experience. The dating site has implemented new features built specifically for mobile devices. The previous version of their app was a mirror image of their website that used algorithms and information provided by the users to offer daily matches. You also had the option to search for people based on various criteria.

So how does Match.com new iPhone app work? It first opens up to a brand new Discover page, one that didn’t exist on their old app until now. The Discover page has two parts: the Stream and the Mixer. The Stream is a stream of people that you might find interesting. The app shows them to you based on your location, your interests, things you prefer, etc. Match.com says that it has found a way for its users to fit multiple photos on the Stream page. This will save the user multiple clicks, said Amarnath Thombre, the president of Match:

“The challenge was to leverage all the rich data that Match has about users, like secondary photos and information from their bio, and make it super lightweight. With the Stream, users can see a lot of information about their potential matches without ever clicking in to anything.”

The other cool tab in the Match.com new iPhone app is the Mixer. This feature resembles very much our personal favorite, Tinder: if you like someone, you swipe right, if you don’t, you swipe left. Mixer gives you the option to like their photos and send messages. Thombre said that the Match.com new iPhone app is not trying to copy Tinder explaining that the “swipe movement” is a natural motion on mobile.

Match.com new iPhone app – other features

The new app features the traditional search and matching modes but it does have a modern mobile feel to it. You can download the Match.com new iPhone app from the iTunes store here.
