NASA hopes the presidency of Trump will change as many things as Obama changed for them.
STATES CHRONICLE – Many people argue that the presidency of Trump will also bring significant changes to the space policy, NASA being affected. A lot of analysts express their opinions, some claiming that there will be a boost for the space agency, others arguing that it will be affected. NASA believes that the presidency of Trump will change exactly what Obama’s administration did eight years ago.
When Obama was elected, he promised that he would give his full support to NASA, calling himself the biggest fan of the space agency, encouraging its efforts. He argued that he is bound to defend the evolution of the space agency which first had brought us to the Moon, next it will be Mars, slowly conquering the entire Universe.
In April 2010, Obama visited Kennedy Space Center. He did not visit SLC-41, Space Launch Complex 37, and Launch Complex 39. He only visited the space agency at the launch of SpaceX. His deeds spoke louder than his words. If it weren’t for the decision of the Congress, Obama would have probably pushed the limits and would have trigger NASA to send teams of specialists beyond the orbit many years ago.
Specialists have blamed Obama for the deliberate actions taken to send astronauts to explore Mars. This event happened due to the budget NASA has for 2017. Back in 2012, Space.com claimed that NASA’s Planetary Sciences Division was bound to have their funds diminished. NASA felt that the support which was first requested by the president was now decreasing affecting their researchers.
Members and officials of the space agency did not understand the attitude of the president. While NASA was ridiculed along the years in space circles like the Senate Launch System, which was a design stipulated by the Congress after the revocation of Constellation, now the attitude needed to change. NASA’s Space Launch System is bound to provide a generous boost to science making possible the first trip beyond Earth’s orbit in 2018.
If the presidency of Trump will follow Obama’s example, then they will have set a pattern which will never be changed. If Trump, as the new president, will undo what Obama did, then NASA will never be able to achieve significant progress. Having that in mind, NASA has enabled many private companies to generate launch systems and produce spaceships which will help them send people to the International Space Station.
