Earlier this week we reported on the new BlackBerry Passport, BlackBerry’s new flagship smartphone. BlackBerry put a lot of effort and money into this phone and it is their make it or break it smartphone. If the new BlackBerry Passport is a success, then the company could very well survive.
Great news for BlackBerry lovers! It appears that the new BlackBerry Passport was a huge success in the first opening days, which means that BlackBerry could finally be doing something right for a change.
John Chen, BlackBerry CEO, hasn’t given us any official numbers, but he did say in a statement that the new BlackBerry Passport has sold out in hours after going on sale on Wednesday. In sold out in 10 hours on Amazon and six hours on shopblackberry.com, which left Chen to conclude: That’s extremely good receptivity.
Indeed, we have to agree that it is extremely good receptivity and that BlackBerry could be saved from death by this new BlackBerry Passport. Chen shared some more good news with us, by revealing that the company had an earnings loss of $11 (2 cents per share), compared to 11 cents per share loss in previous quarter. The new BlackBerry Passport could very well be the key for BlackBerry’s return to a market it used to dominate.
Chen added:
The product is broader and deeper and has history with most customers. I have spoken to many executives and people are very interested in working with us. Our technology works and works well. Governments use it and major banks use it. We’re winning them back — knock on wood, I don’t want to be overconfident — and we’re starting to see that with very big companies.
Have you had the time to glance over the tech specs of the new BlackBerry Passport? It’s pretty impressive, isn’t it? Will you give it a chance? Share your thoughts on this matter in the comment section below.
