The recently released version of Logitech Harmony remotes can control plenty of home devices, including your home theater. The new smart remotes are available in two models: Harmony Ultimate Home and Harmony Home Control. The first one is pretty much similar to the last version, the Harmony Ultimate, and comes equipped with a new touch screen and a different color palette, black and white. Harmony Home Control comes with only one button, which is an update version of Harmony Smart Control. The new one has the buttons play/pause and fast forward/rewind closer to the thumb. The prices for the new Logitech Harmony remotes are as follows: for the Harmony Ultimate Home you pay $350 and for the Harmony Home Control, $150.
Both remotes will be available this month in the US and Canada. Availability dates for UK and Australia haven’t been announced yet.
The new Logitech Harmony remotes were designed for the smart home owners, allowing them to control the usual home entertaining devices, like TVs and music players, but also thermostats, smart locks, lights and even the electronic window shades.
The Harmony Ultimate Home controls up to 15 home devices, while the Harmony Home Control can manage up to 8 devices. They both come with Harmony Home Hub, which allows you to operate everything. This uses technologies like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IR and RF and can be used with different Harmony apps. The Home Hub can also be bought separately from the remotes and you can control it using your mobile device and the app. This will cost you $100.
Some of the home-automation devices that are compatible with the new Logitech Harmony remotes include Honeywell, August, Kwikset, Nest Learning Thermostat, Lutron. Philips Hue, PEQ, Schlage, Sylvania, SmartThings, Zuli, Yale. The list goes on because the Logitech Harmony remotes work with more than 270,000 devices.
