Overcoming the Next Flu Season

flu-seasonOvercoming the next flu season will be particularly difficult, authorities warn. The season has already begun for a couple of weeks now and everyone is gathering strength to fight it. However, the United States’ population is in for bad news as it is dealing with a particularly stubborn virus. All officials persistently advise people to purchase antivirals in order to overcome this horrible flu.

For the past weeks, this virus has been spreading extremely fast. Even the administrators and directors from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claimed that many elderly people as well as those with poor access to healthcare had already been affected.

Because numerous people have been complaining of flu symptoms, doctors have to find the proper treatment in little time. While some doctors prescribe Tamiflu, others believe that this particular drug does not have any effect on the infected people.

Several examinations are to be evaluated before determining the influenza. This process takes time therefore a quick solution is in order.  Dr. Thomas Frieden, part of the disease control team, strongly advised medical personal to prescribe the Tamiflu. This drug is to be taken early on, when symptoms start to appear.

Citizens can help doctors faster depict the influenza by presenting their symptoms. However, it is common knowledge that once a flu of this magnitude is present, everyone thinks is a victim of it. The key is not to panic and depict actual symptoms.

Although odds may seem to be on the virus’s side, infectious-disease experts are trying their best to find the right vaccine strains. At the beginning of March, a team of experts will begin preparing for the next season’s vaccine. This team along with government researchers gathers information around the world about the virus.

Then, World Health Organization presents its opinions and recommendations about specific flu strains. Only after these experts express their opinions through a vote, will they begin sending manufacturers the solutions.

Taking into account the lack of time, this process may seem tedious and long. However, this is the only solution. Global health experts say that viral shifts happen constantly making it harder for them to predict and treat new strains of the virus. They even believe that it is a matter of fortune. When about luck is on their side, 60 percent of the injected people do not even have to visit the doctor in a flu season. So it is worth the wait.

Afterwards, the pressure is placed on the vaccine manufacturers for making enough doses for the entire population. It is constant race even war against viral diseases.
