Snoring-A-Possible-Sign-of-Sleep Apnoea

Can something so casual like snoring be a cause for developing brain damage? New research has shown, that breathing difficulty during sleep and snoring might provoke Alzheimer.

Those who know to snore at night might be scared by what this research has to say.

A new study published in the Neurology journal, states that people who are frequent snorers and encounter breathing problems during sleep, may deal with memory problems and a cognitive decrease at a much younger age than those who dont snore.

Scientists from the Langone Medical Centre from NYU, have stated that snoring and breathing problems during sleep affects mostly older persons and 50% of men are suffering from this, while women who snore are around 15%.

Researchers have gathered information from the medical files of up to 2,500 people with ages starting with 55 years old and ending with 75 years old. The individuals involved in the experiment, were classified as owning a normal functioning of the brain, slight cognitive deterioration or dealing with incipient stages of Alzheimer.

Results have shown that people breathing irregularly while sleeping, had developed slight cognitive deterioration and memory loses 10 years earlier than the individuals who were not suffering from irregular breathing while sleeping.

Slight cognitive deterioration is usually the beginning of Alzheimer, but it is not necessarily a rule that all people suffering from this will develop Alzheimer.

The research hasn’t explained the cause or the effect of the happening , but has added extra information to how sleeping can affect our brain.

Experts advise people who are aware that they snore or suffer from irregular breathing to take this matter very seriously. A doctor can tell you if you are dealing with a problem and people can even do this at home, with the help of a sleep test which will give you the diagnosis. After which you will follow a treatment.

Controlling your weight and losing a few kilograms might help you improve the condition as having more kilograms than normal, increases snoring and breathing issues.

There is hope also for people suffering from irregular breathing while sleeping. There is a type of mask named, CPAP which has to be worn during sleep, on your nose and mouth. This will allow the airways to stay open for the duration of your sleep. It is not one of the most comfortable situation stop deal with, but, people should know, that this can chance and even save their life.
