One more Google Edition Smartphone would be joining the line-up that currently comprises of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Nexus and the HTC One Nexus. The next one would be the Sony Xperia Z, with both Google and Sony joining hands in coming up with the Nexus version of it.
Google had announced the Google Nexus version of the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One sometime back and that the Google Editions of the two would be available at the Play Store from June 26. The models would not have any additional features as such from their base variants. What the devices have is the unlocked boot locker feature and the ability to update from Google directly. The devices would be compatible with the 4G LTE networks of AT&T and T-Mobile. Price of the Samsung Google Edition is $650 and that of the HTC One is $599, both of which unfortunately is a bit on the higher side.
What is being discussed right now is that the Google Edition of the Sony Xperia Z would be supporting the T-Mobile network and Google Play Store would have the gadget up on their site for sale. It would also be available at AT&T and T-Mobile sites as well for purchase.
The Xperia Z comes with a 5 inch display that boasts of 1080p screen resolution. The device is powered by a quad-core processor and also carries a camera of 13 megapixel resolution at the rear. Also, another unique quality of the Xperia Z is that it is water and dust proof. All of these features would remain in the Google Edition version of the device.
Release of the Sony Xperia Z Google Edition is expected after the same from Samsung and HTC hits market. Expect more details to come to the fore only then.
