The last important news on tablets was about Lenovo’s new budget A series. This time the news comes from Acer as they revealed their new tablet at a press event on Tuesday. The latest line of Android tablets is called Acer Iconia and it features two versions: the Iconia Tab 7 and Iconia One 7. The two tablets are on a budget and can very well compete with Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX.
With the new Acer Iconia tablets, Acer seems to be focusing on accessibility and design rather than improved new features. And that’s a good thing since many of us care more about those two criteria when we’re looking to buy a tablet. We care about features too, but the new Acer tablets have it all.
The Iconia Tab 7 comes with a 7 inch 1.280x800p IPS display and it runs on a quad-core 1.3 GHz Media Tek MT8382 SoC. This is not the most advanced processor but not unseen on entry-level Android tablets. The Tab 7 measures 7.6 by 4.6 by 0.35 and weighs 10.56 ounces. It’s a pretty compact and easily manageable tablet. It’s got a good grip and you can gold it with one hand. It has an anodized metallic finish which gives the tablet a premium look. The most notable feature on the new Acer Iconia Tablets is the built-in 3G connectivity that allows you to make calls right from the tablet.
Acer was very excited to announce their new colorful tablets called the Iconia One 7. This one comes in a variety of pretty, vibrant colors like blue, bright pink, red, yellow, green and purple. The One 7 comes with a lot of personality and it stands out from other Acer tablets released in the past. The Iconia One 7 has a 7 inch display with 1.280x800p IPS, a dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor. It’s less powerful than the Iconia Tab 7 and a little bigger: 7.8 by 4.7 by 0.35 inches. It’s also heavier than the Tab 7 as well, weighing 12.32 ounces. The second of the new Acer Iconia tablets features a 2MP rear camera, a 0.3MP front camera, a microSD card slot and a pair of stereo speakers. It runs on Android 4.2.2 but Acer said that it will soon be upgraded to the 4.4 version.
