The Android KitKat party has started early for the Moto G now that the device has already started to receive the said update a few weeks early than the stipulated time. The Moto G which was launched just last month running Jelly Bean would get the update sooner than the earlier promised update schedule of early 2014. So what does the Android KitKat update bring to the user?

A restyled status bar as well as the changed navigation bars would add a new look to the screen. Users would also get color emoji support and an improved captioning support. It would also provide better security and battery usage would also be improved with the update.

For the Touch to Focus function a circular icon which user can easily drag for the action of focusing the exposure of the photo to be taken. There are also some new photo editing functions added including new filters, advanced cropping function adjustments to color contrast and such other editing issues. Users would be also able to take print of photos taken now as well as other documents like Google docs, messages in Gmail and such. Printers connected to the device via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cloud Print services of Google would get access to this feature.

So far as the apps and functionality of the device goes, the user would find it easier to search contacts from the dial pad, including the corporate directory search. Just a tap would bring up contacts that the user has been in touch frequently. There is also the changed SMS/ MMS function that use hangouts which can be set up as the default app for these activities. The update, adds support for credit card reader as well.

What this all means is that post update the Moto G would be quite similar to the Moto X in functional aspects. Users of the Moto G would get their notification directly when it is available for their set and their region.

September 30, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Google Nexus 5 is expected to arrive very soon. It will be powered with the new Android 4.4 KitKat. The Nexus 5 is expected to arrive on October 14th. Even though the news about Google Nexus 5’s release with Android 4.4 KitKat has not been officially confirmed by Google, rumors about Nexus 5 are getting hotter day by day.

This time around a log file revealed that Nexus 5 is running on Android 4.4 KitKat. Both of them have been in the news since several weeks. Although there has not been official confirmation on the next Nexus smartphone, tech blogs are using ‘Nexus 5’ name for the same. Also, it is heavily rumored that the next Nexus 5 will be an LG device which is also yet to be confirmed by Google.

We have added the photos of the log file that we are talking about. These details clearly indicate the Nexus 5 is coming with Android 4.4 KitKat. Well, tech enthusiasts know it pretty well that Google always releases the newest version of Android exclusively on its Nexus devices.

The Google Nexus 4 has been discontinued after the stocks of the said device got over. The October 14th release date seems quite true. However, the only thing that is remaining is some sort of announcement from Google’s end.

The log file indicates Android 4.4 KitKat which was previously rumored to have the Key Lime Pie name. The new Android upgrade will be running on a device that has a code name of ‘Hammerhead’. Well, speculations reveal that the said device is nothing but the LG D820. This is the model number of the expected LG Nexus 5.

The log file also shows that the said device will be running on T-Mobile’s network. Google has been rumored to be working on a new messaging application called Google Babel. Even the new service can be seen on the log file. This new feature is expected to arrive on Android 4.4 KitKat. As of now, Google has not revealed anything on the features of Android 4.4 KitKat.

The LG Nexus 5 is going to sport a 5inch display that supports full HD 1080p resolution. Like many of the contemporary rival devices, even the Nexus 5 will come with Snapdragon 800 CPU. It has got 13MP camera onboard. The design of the device is expected to similar to that of Nexus 7 tablet which is an Asus product.

The Android 4.4 KitKat will come with new features like screen resizing, Miracast updates, notification widgets, revamped appeal and so on. The Nexus 5 is going to replace the older Nexus. The Android 4.4 KitKat will replace the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The Android 4.3 which was released in July this year has still not arrived on many of the smartphones. Rumor has it that Android 4.4 KitKat will be made available to older Android devices as well.

Google Nexus 5 Release Date Rumors with Android KitKat 4.4 Continue to Build Up

September 19, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

On Sept 17, Google stopped selling Nexus 4 units when it went out of stock. Google is not likely to bring fresh stock of Nexus 4 but rather Google will be releasing a new Nexus phone. Some experts predict that the next Nexus 5 will also be an LG product like the Nexus 4.

Also another rumor about the Nexus 5 came through the two FCC filings which indicate that the handset will be powered with Android 4.4 KitKat. More and more leaked photos of the LG Nexus 5 are being published on the web.

Google Nexus 5 which is codenamed as Hammerhead will be featuring a 1080p display screen. The size of the display is still not confirmed but according to the recent leaks, the display size can be 5inch or 5.2inch. The Nexus 5 will be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU along with Adreno 330 CPU. The Nexus 5 will also support LTE connectivity.

A new leak coming through Wi-Fi certifications show that the next Nexus can possibly be an LG product. The LG D820 model is rumored to be sold as Nexus 5 model. By the way, two versions of the LG D820 were spotted namely, the LG D820C and LG D820S passing Wi-Fi certifications. So, we can pretty much feel that the Nexus 5 release date is fast approaching. Still other rumors suggest that the next Nexus 5 will be a Motorola handset.

According to rumors surrounding the Google Nexus 5 release date, the handset which will be powered with Android 4.4 KitKat will come out on October 14. However, this piece of information has not been officially announced by Google. However, all Nexus 5 rumors indicate that the Nexus 5 release date will be in the month of October.

Google Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 Kit kat, Features, Release Date Discussed

September 13, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson 1 Comment

Rumors about the new Google Nexus 5 have gained momentum with the launch month of October drawing closer. Google had come out with a video show casing their Android 4.4 Kit Kat and the device on which the OS was shown to be running on was some unknown smartphone device. The conclusion therefore logically drawn was that the device itself was the Nexus 5. The video also shows the device to be made by LG giving further credibility to the conclusion.

Details about the new device, which we are concluding to be the Nexus 5 has also been listed in the FCC site albeit a scratchy one. Those who are interested to learn more about what the Nexus 5 could be like can see the rendered version of the set on some sites created by Droid-life. These rendered projections show the large Nexus logo on the rear of the device as well as the camera and flash which comes along with. The device can be expected to be slimmer in design while sporting around a 5 inches display. Another of its design feature could be its thin bezel layout.

The device could bear some sort of a resemblance with the LG G2 which has a 5 inch screen and a display of 1080p resolution. The core processor would be a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip. The FCC listing indicates the device to support LTE. Retailing of the Nexus 5 could be via the AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint channels as they had launched their Nexus 7 via Verizon with support for their 4G LTE network.

Another area where the Nexus 5 could be excelling the competition is the inclusion of a higher specced camera what with Google rumored to be collaborating with Nikon on this. Apple has already upped the ante on this by incorporating a more advanced camera on the new iPhone 5s which leaves Google quite some room to innovate and improve.

As for its launch, experts believe it could be end October when the Nexus 5 is eventually made official. That is about the same time the Nexus 4 was launched. Another factor backing the above speculation is that this would make for a nice gift for Android fans worldwide as the Google operating system celebrates its birthday on Nov 5th.
