Google Nexus 5 vs Apple iPhone 5S – Deciding Before Release Date is Not easy

October 2, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

The iPhone 5S which released along with iPhone 5C is doing well in the markets. The iPhone 5S is definitely a phone that should be purchased. However, there are other powerful phones like Galaxy s4 which will make it quite tough to make a decision. Some of the phones that are soon to arrive and expected to give good competition to iPhone 5S include Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Google Nexus 5 and HTC One Max. However, among these LG Nexus 5 seems to be a real competitor for iOS 7 powered iPhone 5S.

iphone_5S

The iPhone 5S has become so popular that stocks have exhausted and Apple is planning to supply new devices. On the other side, the iPhone 5C is not doing that well in US. However, the phone was built to target Asian markets. In the forthcoming weeks, we will be able to learn about the same.

The iPhone 5S is an upgraded version of the discontinued iPhone 5. Hence, many of the features like display and its speculations are same as the predecessor model. The device is powered with A7 64bit processor. It is the first time a 64bit chip is used to power a smartphone. It houses an upgraded iSight camera. The iPhone 5S is available in various color options like gold, silver and white. However, the main feature is definitely the fingerprint scanner. It brings an added security feature which makes it possible for users to authenticate logins through fingerprint and frees from the hassle of entering login credentials manually.

Thus, the iPhone 5S is a fabulous device which is the reason there is great demand for it. Well, now let us talk about one of the major competitors of iPhone 5S. In the previous, the iPhone 5 and Google Nexus 4 ruled the smartphone world when they were released. Now, the iPhone 5S has got a huge chunk of customers under its belt in US. However, since it is going to get some serious competition from Google Nexus 5.

If you have not purchased the iPhone 5S, we advise you to wait a month or so because very soon the Nexus 5 is going to arrive. The Google Nexus 5 has been in the news since couple of months. However, very soon the handset will be launched. Like the iPhone 5S came out with a swanky new iOS7, even the Nexus 5 will be blessed with the all new Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The features of the new Android upgrade have not been revealed yet. However, both Android 4.4 and Nexus 5 are going to be unveiled on the same day. The expected release date is October 14. Well, Google has not confirmed anything about the two.

The iPhone 5S gold version is completely sold out and Apple is holding the supply of the gold iPhone 5S until October. The reason behind it is that may be Apple wants to give a serious competition to Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 will come out with a 4.97inch display screen which will support 1080p full HD resolution and boasts a pixel density of 443ppi.

The best thing about the Android on Nexus 5 is that Google will be offering an exclusive Vanilla version of Android 4.4 KitKat on Nexus 5. It offers connectivity features like LTE and NFC. The device is powered with Snapdragon 800 CPU and 2GB RAM. The Nexus 5 will at least offer 16GB storage space. It will come with 8MP camera at the rear and 1.2MP at the front.

The FCC filings of Nexus 5 reveal that the device will be made available only on T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint. At the moment, the device is not going to support Verizon’s network. One of the major things that will help customers decide between the two is the price factor. Well, the Nexus 5 is expected to come out with lower price tag.

The unlocked version of iPhone 5S can be purchased for 650USD. Well, it does seems to be an expensive price tag. The price of Google Nexus 5 has not been announced yet but we feel that Google will keep it low like it has always done. The unlocked version of Nexus 5 is expected to be available for $299 or $399. Again, if you haven’t purchased the Apple iPhone 5S, we suggest you to wait little more and then when the Nexus 5 gets released, you can compare the specs and price of the two phones and then take a calculated decision.

What do you think about the Nexus 5? Will it be able to thwart iPhone 5S sales and popularity? Do share your views in the comments section.

iPhone 5S vs Galaxy Note 3: Fight between Apple and Samsung Continues

September 30, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Recently, both rival companies Samsung and Apple launched two new handsets namely: the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Apple iPhone 5S. In the past few years, Apple and Samsung have been fighting it out to win over each other. Let us compare the iPhone 5S with Galaxy Note 3 to know which one is a better device:

Design, Build and Display
iPhone 5S is an upgraded version of the older iPhone 5. It is available in three premium colors like silver, gold and grey. The exterior of the iPhone 5S is made up of durable quality aluminum. Thus, the iPhone 5S appears sleek and sophisticated. The Galaxy Note 3 is a 6inch phablet device. It has got a plastic yet durable body. And it comes with appealing leather back. Appearance-wise the Note 3 is not that good-looking but the internal specs of the device are the things that make it one of the best smartphones currently available.

phone5sgold.preview

Since the Galaxy Note 3 is larger screen, it has got that extra screen space that it’s give it an advantage. It has got a 5.7inch display that supports a display resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels with a pixel density of 386ppi. On the other hand, the iPhone 5S has got a 4inch display which supports a display resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. It offers a pixel density of 326ppi. Both the devices have got great displays. However, it all boils down to the choice between larger device that may not be easy to hold with one hand and a smaller device that is quite comfortable to operate with one hand.

Processor, RAM and Storage
Apple has powered the new iPhone 5S with a brand new A7 processor. According to Apple, the iPhone 5S’s processor is twice faster than the predecessor’s A6 processor. Also, it is the first smartphone ever to run on a 64bit A7 processor.

Also, it packs in an M7 motion co-processor which enables the handset to detect actions of the user such as sitting, walking, running and so on. Apple has never disclosed properly about how many RAM the device has got. We feel it has got 2GB RAM onboard. There is no external storage on the device but the handset is available in three variants namely 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

Well, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is powered with a new Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 2.3GHz Krait 400 CPU. It is coupled with a 3GB RAM. The performance of the tablet is quite snappy. The device is available in three internal storage variants like 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. An advantage on the Note 3 is that it comes with external microSD storage.

Both the handsets deliver stunning performance. It is quite a gamble to choice the best between the two in terms of processor and RAM.

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3jpg

Camera and System Software
The rear side of the iPhone 5S is housed with an 8MP iSight camera. This time around Apple has used larger sensor to capture better photos. It has got a dual True Tone flash which consists of amber and white color and it automatically adjusts the flash light according to the ambience of the room. The Galaxy Note 3 has got 13MP camera and a 2MP camera at the front.

The operating system on iPhone 5S is the latest iOS 7 and the one running on Galaxy Note 3 is Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. The iOS 7 is very good upgrade with various new features like Control Center and Notification Center. The Android 4.3 is not a major overhaul update and much of the features were already present on Android 4.2 which is available on slightly older smartphones.

The fingerprint sensor is undoubtedly the most popular feature on iPhone 5S. From unlocking iPhone to authenticating Apple ID, you can do it all through that fingerprint sensor placed under the home button.

Galaxy Note 3 has got a special S-Pen which is nothing but a stylus that has arrived this year with couple of new features. The phablet also comes with some sensors onboard which let you access features like Smart Pause and Smart Scroll.

Battery Life
Well, both the smartphones don’t sport a powerful battery. The iPhone 5S has got the same old battery that is running on iPhone 5 which has been discontinued now. With a powerful A7 chip onboard, it is certain that it will consume a lot of battery. On other side, the Galaxy Note 3 is powered with 3200mAh battery which is good but it may not be that good enough to last longer thanks to the meaty display and powerful CPU packed inside this phablet.

Apple iPhone 5S Hacking – Touch ID Fingerprint Scanner Security Feature Can Be Hacked Easily

September 28, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Undoubtedly the best feature on the recently released iPhone 5S is the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. It is the best security feature ever to come to iPhone which incorporates a fingerprint scanner hidden under the sapphire crystal Home button. Just two days after Apple officially released the iPhone 5S, German hackers claim that they can crack the iPhone fingerprint scanner.

iphone5s-touchid

iPhone 5S’s Touch ID feature requires you to scan your finger to perform authentication. When you want to buy something from the App Store or iTunes or enter Apple ID, you do not need to type and enter the login credentials, you can simply scan your finger and the authentication will be done. If what the German hackers is true, it will be quite embarrassing for Apple as which is betting on Touch ID fingerprint scanner to set it apart from other smartphones that are running on Android.

The German group that talked about the iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner hacking is called Chaos Computing Club [CCC]. The group claims that they had successfully bypassed the Touch ID. Though one of the hackers from the group named Charlie Miller who has co-written the iOS Hacker’s Handbook described the hack attack as ‘a complete break’. He added that “it certainly opens up a new possibility for attackers.”

Apple must be aware of the news but they haven’t paid any heed to the news yet. CCC is not small-time hacking group but one of the world’s famous and largest and well-recognized hacking groups. They have also added a video demonstrating the hack on its website. The video shows how the iPhone 5S could be hacked by using a fabricated print. The group has an exclusive team that can perform biometric hacks.

The reason why CCC targeted Touch ID is because Apple claims it to be a very secure security feature on iPhone and it is difficult to crack it. CCC claims though the fingerprint security sounds as a very secure security feature, it is not very reliable. They claim that fingerprint should not be used for authentication purpose because we tend to leave our fingerprints here and there and it is quite easy to fake fingers through lifted prints.

CCC added that they bypassed Touch ID by snapping an image of an iPhone 5S user and then printed the same fingerprint on a transparent sheet. Previously, CCC has cracked numerous fingerprint sensors and that is the reason why they know it very that they can easily defeat the major security feature of iPhone 5S.

Two security experts are waiting to review the iPhone 5S Touch ID hack procedure. They would like to view a full video documentation of the procedure carried out by CCC and know the entire process. The two security experts were already offering cash prize to first hackers who will crack the iPhone 5S Touch ID feature. Only after viewing the video, the review will be done. We are not sure whether the group will offering cash prize to CCC.

September 27, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

iPhone 5S which was unveiled on Sept 10 went on sale from Sept 20. The flagship device that released recently has replaced the discontinued iPhone 5. Google has also discontinued the supply of Nexus 4 and it is going to soon launch the replacement device, the Google Nexus 5.In the previous, plenty of good smartphones like Galaxy Note 2, HTC One X, Galaxy S3 and others were released but the iPhone 5 and Nexus 4 remained cut above the rest.

The iPhone 5 came out with much needed upgrades like glass and aluminum body. It also came with 4inch Retina Display and provided a new feature called Lightning dock. The best thing about the Nexus 4 was that it came with an inexpensive price tag.

LG-Nexus-5-live

The iPhone 5S which came out on sale on 20th September was not made available for pre-order. This meant iPhone lovers had to eagerly wait for the day to arrive and reach the retail stores early to purchase the swanky new iPhone 5S. Well, Apple is currently not offering the gold iPhone 5S yet. It plans to sell the gold colored handset some time during October or November which may be the time Nexus 5 will make its entry into the market. According to the leaks, the Nexus 5 is going to arrive on Oct 14 with the new Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

Design
The iPhone 5S display is nothing special if you already know how the display of original iPhone 5 is. It comes with glass and aluminum exterior. It is 7.6mm thin and weighs 112g. Well, as of now nothing much has been revealed by Google but the Nexus smartphone. According to rumors, the device is expected to feature plastic body like Nexus 4 and its appearance is going to be like Nexus 7.

Display
Apple iPhone 5S has got same display that is present on iPhone 5. It is a 4inch Retina Display with a screen resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels with 326ppi. It offers 16:9 aspect ratio. Camera
iPhone 5S has got an enhanced 8MP iSight camera as it comes with larger sensor. It is coupled with f/2.2 aperture which makes it possible to snap high quality photos by producing more light for taking snaps in low lighting conditions. You can install a new battery on the handset because its back is not removable. The USP of the iPhone 5S is the fingerprint reader which is placed beneath the Home button. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor offers topnotch security which makes it possible for users to perform authentication through fingerprint without the need of entering login credentials.

Google Nexus 5 is not rumored to feature a special like fingerprint sensor but will be available in two storage variants namely 8GB and 16GB or 16GB and 32GB. FCC filing of the rumored Nexus 5 smartphone revealed that the handset is an LG product with model number D820. It does not come with expansion slot for memory card and its back cover is non-removable like iPhone 5S.

Software
iPhone 5S runs on the new revamped iOS7 which was recently revealed for other iDevices like iPad and iPod Touch [5th gen]. It comes with couple of new features like Air Drop and Control Center. The Nexus 5 is heavily rumored to arrive with the new Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It will offer new features like screen resizing and Mircast updates.

Apple iPhone 5S is available on a contract price of 200USD for 16GB variant. Without contract, the iPhone 5S can be purchased for 650USD. The Nexus 5 price has not been officially announced but its pricing will fall in the midrange price category. Google will definitely offer the unlocked Google Nexus 5 at an attractive low price.

New Apple iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c: Why Buying it Online Makes Better Sense

September 23, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

Whether Apple creates the chaos of their own accord or is it just buyers frenzy that creates it, there has always been these rush scenarios whenever Apple has come up with a new product. It has happened each time Apple has come up with a new version of it’s iPhone or the iPad. There have even been instances of enthusiastic buyers camping outside Apple Stores the night before just to be among the first to lay their hands on the latest Apple gadget. If that has not been enough, there was also the instance of a college student selling off her second slot to another buyer for a respectable amount.

Apple Store

This time too, for the launch of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c we can expect the same rush if not more. There are reports already doing the rounds about the available stock of the device at launch being much lesser than the anticipated demand. This could be a hype being created by Apple itself though previous launch of products by Apple does not make it appear to be so. The iPhone 5s Gold variant is especially one that seems to have a demand far out numbering its stock. Apple also added their bit to ensure buyers fervor by announcing pre-orders would not be accepted for the iPhone 5c which perhaps is a first for any Apple devices launched so far. What this means is that September 20 is the date for both launching the device as well as for accepting orders for it.

However, this has led to many a debate as to the virtues of queuing up outside stores selling the latest Apple device versus ordering them online. One of the obvious benefits of placing the order from the comfort of the home is not just saving one’s skin from exposure to the cold or the discomfort of standing long hours in queue. For after all that effort and time there is yet no guarantee that the device would be available when your chance comes to enter the store. Also if you are lucky to have entered the store in good time, the number of counters and sales people inside would sure create enough confusion by their pep talk to un-focus the reason for your visit to the store. A chance of picking up lots of unnecessary accessory at extra cost is high by a visit to the store in real.

The online process of ordering on the other hand does not have these issues. The main harrowing possibility of frustrating possibility is that of slow server and inability to even load up the online page for registering the order. Though this has high possibility, if the buyer is pre-decided on what is to be purchased, that is which particular model, then attempting to log in to the site a few times would yield the end happy result.

So instead of making plans to get up way early to be able to stand before the shop doors as one of the first in the queue, it is better to sit and plan the exact model that meets the need and attempting to log in to the site from the comfort of the house.

iPhone 5S vs iPhone 5C vs iPhone 5 – Comparing the Apple Smartphones

September 22, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C was announced on Sept 10. The two new iPhones are going to arrive in few days for sale. Finally, the rumors surrounding the predecessor model for iPhone 5 has stopped. Apple does not plan to manufacture iPhone 5 from on. The iPhone 5C will replace the iPhone 5 and also the handset slots itself as a mid-range device.  Here we are going to compare the premium iPhone 5S with iPhone 5C and the discontinued iPhone 5

iphone_5s_iphone_5c-22

Display
iPhone 5S comes with a 4inch display with Retina Display technology. It produces a display resolution of 640 x 1136pixels with a pixel density of 326ppi. Well, the iPhone 5C and the discontinued iPhone 5 has got the same display specification.

Processor
The Apple iPhone 5S is powered with a brand new 64bit A7 dual-core CPU which is capable of producing 1.5GHz of clocking speed. However, the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5C are running on A6 processor. It is believed that the new A7 processor is twice faster than the older A6. Also, the iPhone 5S has got a dedicated M7 motion co-processor that makes the handset to sense user actions like walking and running. This feature is not available on iPhone 5C and the older iPhone 5.

Camera

Apple has added a much improved camera on the iPhone 5S. It has got an 8MP camera onboard with a sensor that is 15 percent larger than the one present on iPhone 5. The aperture of the lens is f/2.2. The lens aperture on iPhone 5C and iPhone 5 is f/2.4. So, the iPhone 5S is much better for taking shots in low lighting conditions. Another new feature on the iPhone 5S is that the camera is coupled with a True Tone dual-LED flash. The new LED flash is able to enhance the color balancing of the photographs. This kind of dual LED flash is not available on the mid-range iPhone 5C and iPhone 5.

iphone 5s 5c camera

Special Feature

The iPhone 5S is blessed with a special feature called Touch ID fingerprint sensor which is absent on iPhone 5C and iPhone 5. The fingerprint scanner is kept hidden under the home button which sits below the displays screen at the front. The button is decked with sapphire crystal.

Apart from the looks, what is so cool about this button is that for authentication purpose on iTunes Store or App Store, users are not required to type in their login credentials anymore. Through the fingerprint of the user, authentication can be done. So, this is how Apple is upgraded security on the new iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5 do not have the fingerprint sensor.

Color
The iPhone 5S is available in three colors like gold, silver and grey. The iPhone 5C is available in white, pink, blue, yellow, and green. The older iPhone 5 was available only in white and black editions.

Storage
The iPhone 5S is available in storage variants like 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The much expected 128GB storage variant is missing. The iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5 are both available in storage variants like 16GB and 32GB.

Operating system
Both the newly released iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C are running on the iOS7 which is yet to release officially. The older iPhone 5 was powered with iOS6.

Price

iPhone 5S price is available on contract for $199, $299, and $399 for 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB variants respectively. Without contract, the iPhone 5S available for $649, $749, and $849. The iPhone 5C is available on contract for $99 and $199 for 16GB and 32GB variants respectively. Without contract, you can get the iPhone 5C for $549 and $649. The iPhone 5 has been discontinued.

Verdict
If you are looking for an iPhone that is much improved than before with a premium appeal, you should go for iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5C is suitable for someone who is not able to afford high-end phones. By the way, the specs of the iPhone 5C and the discontinued iPhone 5 are quite same. If you are using an iPhone 5, carefully go through the specs of iPhone 5C and then only think of upgrading to iPhone 5C. Otherwise, it would be better to go for iPhone 5S.

New iPhone 5s Comes With The New 64 Bit A7 Chip, The First In a Smartphone Device

September 20, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

The Apple iPhone 5s breaks several new grounds, one being that it is the first to include a 64 bit chip at its core, which is something that has never been seen on any smartphone device so far. The A7 chip is considered to be the latest and best processor from the Apple camp right now which no doubt will provide a boost to its performance. Most other smartphones current doing the rounds in the market relies on 32 bit processors.

iPhone 5s

The A7 can now be expected to find application on the future iPad and iPad Mini as well as these have larger displays than the 4 inch display on the iPhone 5s. Gaming for which the A7 has far better potential would run better on the tablet devices. The Retina display technology that the iPad mini is expected to come with would add further zing to the gamers delight on the tablet.

Apple themselves have acknowledged the extra potential of the A7 processor on rendering detailed graphics and even processing the complexities of these graphics at very high speeds. A7 chips have the ability to support open GL ES version 3.0 and that is what makes the difference when processing dynamic graphics required for gaming.

The A7 on the iPhone 5S at its debut does adhere to Apple’s policy of a new chip with their new gadget. This was seen when they had launched the iPhone 5 in September which came powered by the A6 processor.

Another area where the iPhone 5s scores a first is the inclusion of the finger print sensing technology underneath the home button. This no doubt will make the device even more secured than it ever was while the same can also be used to authenticate purchases from the Apple App store or from iTunes. Its just a matter of time before we get to see the feature making it to other smartphone devices with the HTC One Max already rumored to include such a sensor at the rear.

New iPhone 5s Features (Fingerprint Sensor, Camera, A7 Processor, Battery Life) Discussed

September 18, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

The event at California, where Apple finally let the cat out of the bag announcing all those stuff which till now had been only gossip and speculation may have left quite many concluding that the iPhone 5s is nothing more than a hyped up iPhone 5. While at first look that is what it seems to be, there are a lot of features which makes iPhone 5s distinct and a more advanced handset than the iPhone 5. Apple had also taken to announcing the iOS 7 at the same event and the features, 200 odd of them, may have camouflaged the features of the iPhone 5s that had also been spoken. It is a fact that the iPhone 5 is about to be discontinued and the iPhone 5s is the current device, a decision that has taken many by surprise.

iphone-5s

Fingerprint Sensor

One of the most distinct features of the iPhone 5s is the fingerprint sensor that has been built into the home button of the handset. This provides an almost foolproof layer of security to the device provided the associated hardware and software works right each and every time. Users would gain access to the Siri app as before by clicking on the Home button, though all of it will begin with a correct match of the finger print which is needed to unlock the device in the first place.

The home button is surrounded by a stainless steel ring which helps to detect the presence of a finger on the home button. This in turn activates the sensors for registering the finger print and initiating the rest of the start-up process. This feature of course is possible only with a combination of hardware which is present on the iPhone 5S only and the corresponding codes present in the iOS 7 operating system. Users need not be apprehensive about their fingerprint going over the net as the data is saved on the device only. It won’t ever be accessible to any apps nor will it be saved in the clouds.

New 64-Bit A7 Processor

When it comes to performance, the iPhone 5S once again takes a big jump from the existing iPhone 5 thanks to the 64 bit A7 chip that it incorporates. This actually makes for another of the iPhone 5s’ unique abilities, it being the only smartphone device in the world to be powered by a 64 bit chip. That it would translate into a huge increase in performance is all too evident though some claim much of the new chip’s capabilities will remain unused in a smartphone device.

Coming to smartphone’s gaming abilities, it all high speed fun thanks to the processor supporting Open GL ES 3.0 and the iOS 7 in combo. All of that results in high speed of graphic processing which games demand. Shadows and textures would appear more realistic which gives the game its additional zing. The processor is also capable of processing speeds that would render graphics at double the speed it did on the iPhone 5.

<

iPhone 5S Battery Life

Thankfully, the vastly enhanced processing power does not come as the cost of battery backup times. Though Apple gave some specific details on this aspect, it would differ depending on user usage pattern. For instance, Apple is claiming two more hours of browsing time in LTE as well as for 3G talk time compared to the iPhone 5. They have also stated the stand by time to be 25 hours more than iPhone 5. It must also be noted that Apple is using a newer processor the A7 on the iPhone 5S which is supposed to be at least two times faster than the iPhone 5 CPU.

iphone 5s-1

iPhone 5S Camera Features

Another of the biggest attribute of the iPhone 5s is its greatly enhanced photographic abilities. Though the camera on the iPhone 5s is of the same 8 MP resolution as that of the iPhone 5 but it has bigger pixels and the aperture is f/2/2 which is larger than that of the iPhone 5. Taking photos in low light would render better end result with the camera of the iPhone 5s. A very nice feature of the iPhone 5s is the ability to capture slow motion video at speeds as slow as 3X as well as its ability to record video at 720p resolution with a frame rate of 120.

When taking panorama shots, once again the iPhone 5s has its distinctive advantages as the capture can go to speeds of 30 fps while the camera also has the ability to adjust the exposure to ensure no dark or bright spots that are normally noticed on panorama shots. The camera also comes with image stabilization feature which helps in taking clear pictures even when the subject has moved or the hand of the photographer has shaken. This feature is possible on the iPhone 5s for the camera takes four shots in that exposure time and then combines the three for rendering the end result.

Motion Tracking

For motion tracking, Apple uses the M7 processor in tandem with the A7. This technology allows for better capture of motion as well as extending battery life while doing so.  Another use of this motion sensor processor is that users would not be disturbed with pop up alerts or WiFi switching on when it senses that the user say is driving in a car or something similar. It would also sense physical inertia and place the device into sleep mode automatically, thereby saving battery life in the process. Among the other features of the iPhone 5s camera is the burst mode which of course would also be available on the iPhone 5 after the upgrade to iOS 7. But as of now, the iPhone 5s can take 20 photos with its camera by just holding the shutter button for two seconds. Users would then be able to select which shot is best for storing and reject the rest.

Dual LED Flash

The dual LED flash which the iPhone 5s comes with is based on True Tone flash technology as per Apple. This technology gauges the color temperature either of the object, subject or general room depending on what is being captured and then uses that information to set the intensity of the Flash. This results in more natural skin tones aided by the more than 1000 flash color combinations on offer.

iphone-5s 2

New iPhone 5S Apps

Taking advantage of the new M7 co-processoir, Nike has developed an app that tracks movement of the user throughout the day and produces result based on the Nike Fuel point system. The app is called Nike+Movement and users would know about it as part of the Nike Fuelband accessory.

Further, apps which cost about $40 if downloaded from iTunes, like iPhoto, iWork, iMovie come for free for the iPhone 5S user and they can also port the app to their iPad for use. This free app benefit is only for iPhone 5s buyers and not for those who upgrade their iPhone 5 to iOS 7.

New iPhone 5S Release Date May Markoff the Beginning of 64-bit smartphone Battle

September 18, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

New iPhone 5S comes in a fingerprint sensor under the home button of the handset. This is the USP of the new iPhone 5S. However, it has also got another powerful feature. The iPhone 5S is powered by an A7 processor which is a 64-bit processor. So, this is the first time for any manufacturer to offer 64-bit processor for a smartphone. What about its rival, Samsung? Well, the Korean giant is also entering the ring by working on to offer the same technology.

64 bit A7 chip

Spec-wise, a 64-bit processor sounds very powerful. In fact, Apple claims that the new A7 chip is two times faster than the A6 chip. Having said that, will the everyday user really notice the existence of such a powerful processor packed inside their smartphone? Recently, Samsung also announced that even they are working on a 64bit processor that will power up the next gen Galaxy smartphones. The new announcement from Samsung comes immediately after Apple released the new iPhone 5S on last Tuesday.

The shipment of iPhone 5S which is powered with A7 chip will begin from Sept 20. The iPhone 5C which was also announced on the same day, will be powered with 32bit A6 chip which is powers up the older iPhone 5. A 64-bit processor is good for playing high-end games, apps that consume tons of data, processional apps like video editing, and playing 4K HD video. All these features can arrive on next gen smartphones if only they are powered with 64bit CPU.

Samsung also claims that now that Apple is targeting Asian markets like China, even the Korean giant will put more efforts to achieve higher sales in these markets. Samsung’s move on introducing 64-bit CPU clearly indicates that the company plans to launch smartphones with advance features in the near future.

Tech analysts feel that Apple’s move of introducing 64-bit processor is a marketing ploy because still there are not many 64-bit apps available and the iPhone 5S is powered with a undersized 2GB RAM. So, analysts feel that as of now 64-bit chipset does not bring anything new to the users unless the processor is supported by higher amounts of RAM. The 64-bit processor battle among the smartphone brands will ensue only higher densities of RAM and powerful apps are introduced in the future.

Although there are not many powerful apps or hardware on iPhone 5S that will make users realize how powerful the A7 chip, the iPhone 5S is certainly running on the new iOS 7 that has been developed to work with A7 64bit processor. As of now, the latest version of Android does not support 64-bit processor. Speaking of iOS 7, the Cupertino company will be releasing the new update on Sept 18. The update will be made available to iPhone 4 and later versions.

Tech experts are of the view that Samsung’s move of launching 64bit processor certainly indicates that even the Korean tech giant wants to show that even they are ready to produce 64-bit processors even though Android which is the major operating system available on Samsung phones, is not yet built for 64-bit chip. So, again new rumors are swirling about the Android 5.0 that it will support ARMv8 design from Samsung.

New Apple iPhone 5S Release Date to Come With a Fingerprint Sensor Feature

September 7, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

iPhone 5S release date might indeed come with a fingerprint scanner as has been speculated by numerous tech sites the world over. The confirmation has come thanks to the recent leak of a few images depicting some of the internals of the upcoming iPhone 5S.

Plus, there has been a sort of confirmation from a biometric expert all of which led us to believe Apple’s last year’s acquisition of the Authen Tec may not have gone in vain. The incorporation of a fingerprint sensor is all set to be the newest value addition to the upcoming premium handset offerings though Apple it seems will be the first off the block to offer the feature on its device.

Earlier, both the Galaxy Note 3 as well as the Galaxy S4 that too were speculated to include such a sensor though things surely didn’t pan out that way.

Coming back to the iPhone 5S, the images have been leaked by Sonny Dickson who claims to have several sources in China who in turn depend on those working in Apple’s upstream hardware partner for having access to the behind the scene developments with upcoming Apple products. The parts leaked have also drawn the attention of an ex CFO of UPEK, Philip Smith claiming there is no way a fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5S can be ruled out.

Describing the parts, Philip claimed the actual sensor is the ‘teeny blob on the light colored sensor’ which will detect the fingerprint impressions. Thereafter, the image so captured will be processed by the square portion which likely hosts the necessary hardware for that.

he fingerprint will be matched with that stored in memory and the users will be granted or denied access to the device depending on whether the fingerprint turns out to be that of the authentic user or otherwise.

The above can be considered to be quite reliable coming as it is from someone who has been associated with UPEK who specialize in developing biometric fingerprint security solutions used in laptop devices and such. In any case, we won’t have to wait too long to come across the real thing as the next gen iPhone release date is all set to be revealed on the 10th itself.
