Leaks on the G Flex Smartphone from LG continue to make appearances on the internet with each claiming to be the latest and most real one. This set has a display that is curved in shape and many readers would sure have come across reports about it.
Telefe, a broadcaster from Argentina had claimed to be holding the real set at hand and have put up the details of the 6 inch set for others to read. The video indicates the controls of the set are located at its rear. This is something that LG introduced with its current flagship model, the LG G2. The video also indicated the camera to be same as that of the G2, by way of resolution that is 13 MP.
In the latest leaked video footage what can be seen is the curve with a top down approach. The other Smartphone with a curved screen is the Samsung Galaxy Round which however has the curve from left to right. If the handset is held in landscape mode, the edges would be found to be pointing towards the user. This is similar to the design of LG’s TV sets that have a curved screen. As of now, it is only the two South Korean manufacturers that have adopted a curved design approach with their smartphones though for both, it is limited to just a single model so far. Perhaps the two companies have a penchant for things curved, what with the two among the only manufacturers to have come up with TVs with a curved display.
Coming to the LG G Flex, while it is difficult to understand the benefit of a curved screen surface for viewing, what can be said is that the curve makes it easier to hold the device along our face with both the ear and the mouth being actually closer to the device. a curved smartphones can also be easier to carry on our back pockets as well though maybe not along the thighs while being carried in the front pant pocket. We sure will get to know more about it when LG unveils the device next month as is being rumored. Another aspect that many will be curious to know more about is how the display behaves when it’s actually curved.
