Since quite some time 2012’s Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has been rumored to get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade. The rumor about the same resurfaced again recently which shows that the Korean tech giant is preparing the Android 4.3 update for the said Galaxy smartphones.
Both the devices are currently running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung will not be bringing the Android 4.2 update for these devices but rather will be skipping it to make way for Android 4.3. When Android 4.3 will arrive on Galaxy Note 2, it will bring the new features that will come with Galaxy Note 3 which comes preloaded with Android 4.3. Well, the Galaxy Note 3 will be arriving early in the coming month.
The Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to arrive in November whereas the said update for Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to be made available in October. Till now, Samsung has not confirmed about offering the Android 4.3 for Note 2 and Galaxy S3. However, the company had hinted that they will be offering new updates for these phones along with Galaxy S4 in October.
By making the Android 4.3 available on Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, users will be able to use the new Galaxy Gear smartwatch with all these devices. The Galaxy Gear with its Bluetooth feature can be connected wirelessly to devices that are running on Android 4.3 which comes with an exclusive Bluetooth LE feature. Since the Android 4.3 is currently available on Galaxy Note 3 which is yet to release, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch could only work with this device only. However, the new update for other smartphones will make the accessory with other devices as well.
New updates coming from France indicate that the French carrier called SFR will be rolling out the Android 4.3 update for the said devices in couple of weeks. A new chart has been revealed by SFR which talks about the talks about the updates that the company is offering for its devices.
According to the chart which we shown you here, SFR is going to make Android 4.3 update available for Galaxy S4 in October. The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will be getting the Android 4.3 update in November or December. Generally, carriers are late in offering the update. That means even though the update is made available by Samsung, it will depend on different carriers as to when they will be making the update available.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update was released in July this year. So, the least we can say is that the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will be getting the Android 4.3 update within this year. US carriers have been quite slow in rolling out Android updates. So, we will have to wait a little more to get even more confirmed information.
