Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini With Verizon Logo Spotted

August 21, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

A Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini handset with the Verizon logo stamped at its back has recently been spotted, leading to speculations that the S4 Mini could be the newest addition to the Big Red’s Android arsenal. The image also revealed the model number of the device as SCH-1435 along with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system.

True the image is anything but official though it could be a pointer of what to expect in future. Verizon has recently updated its product offering with the inclusion of the Droid Ultra range of smartphones as well as the Moto X though the S4 Mini operates in a completely different segment.

Being the smaller sibling of the flagship S4 device, the S4 Mini retains many of the good qualities of its bigger cousin but is packed in a smaller form factor.  The S4 has been designed keeping in mind the requirement of those who prefer a display that is not as expansive as that of the S4. This will make the device more comfortable to hold and operate. Also of course, it’s not just the size but the price too has been downsized, though we are yet to know how much it’s worth right now.

S4 Mini

Also included within its smaller dimension are a rather modest set of internals compared to a more elaborate set up for the standard S4. Powering the device will be a dual core Snapdragon 400 dual-core chip compared to a quad core Snapdragon 600 chip for the S4. The S4 Mini also benefits from a dedicated Adreno 305 GPU (Adreno 320 for the S4) along with 1.5 GB of RAM. Onboard storage amounts to 8 GB which is further expandable to 64 GB by way of micro SD cards. Providing the juice will be a 1,900 mAh while upfront, it will be a 4.3 inch super AMOLED display having a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. For comparison’s sake, the S4 boasts of a super AMOLED display having a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

However, the above spec sheet applies to the standard S4 Mini which should also tally with the Verizon version of the smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom – Samsung Attacks Nokia PureView Technology

June 21, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Samsung has released couple of new devices under the Galaxy S4 name such as Galaxy S4 Activ which is a ruggedized version of Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S4 Mini. Now, Samsung has announced yet another Galaxy S4 phone which is the Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Recently, Nokia released the 808 PureView which comes 41 megapixel camera. However, it is powered with the dying Symbian OS. It is soon going to be challenged by Samsug Galaxy S4 Zoom which was announced recently at London. It comes with 16 megapixel camera, a staggering 10x optical zoom, xenon flash, optical image stabilization and the latest Android OS.

GALAXY-S4-zoom

About the new Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, Samsung claims that people desire to snap high quality photos but they are not able to do so because they don’t feel the urge to carry or have enough space to carry a dedicated camera. The Galaxy S4 Zoom makes it possible to take advantage of connectivity as well as snapping stunning photos through its camera.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom comes with a unique zoom ring which allows you to instantly access camera modes and share images easily. For instance, if you are speaking to someone on your Galaxy S4 Zoom and you see something which needs to be captured and shared, all you need to do is twist the zoom ring on the phone to instantly access the in-call photo sharing feature to send the photo via MMS to the person with whom you are talking.

Till now we have only spoken about the camera features of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, lets talk about the phone features of the device. It comes with 4.3inch qHD touchscreen display. The mere look at the device will make you feel it is a compact version of Samsung Galaxy Camera. The Galaxy S4 Zoom lets you make calls and access the internet. On the other hand, the Galaxy Camera does not allow you to make phone calls or access web.

It is speculated that the PureView technology is going to be seen in forthcoming Lumia phones. Samsung’s sheer popularity is going to make business difficult for Nokia’s PureView technology powered phones.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom runs on a powerful 1.5GHz dual-core CPU. The internal storage capacity of the device is 8GB and there is an external memory card slot. The Galaxy S4 Zoom is going to unveiled at the 20th June event which will be held at London. Samsung has not yet announced the price and when will the device be available for purchase. Some speculate that it will take quite some time for the device to be available in US as Samsung did not talk about availability of the Galaxy S4 Zoom in US during the press release.

Some analysts feel that the device is actually a camera with an additional phone function. This makes the device slot in with other similar devices like Panasonic Lumix Phone,  Casio Exilim W363CA, Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera, FujiFilm FinePix S8400W and Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-G3.

Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 Release Date on 20th June Along with Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom

June 14, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

20th June is going to be a mega event day when Samsung will be announcing couple of new devices. The Galaxy S4 Mini, the Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Mini are the devices that are going to be unveiled at the event. The event is also going to reveal ATIV products as well. The other powerful device that is expected to be showcased at the event is the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2.

Samsung-June-20-Event

The Galaxy Camera 2 is the successor to the Galaxy Camera which was released in the year 2012. However, till now nobody knows what specs are going to be present on the predecessor device. All that we can guess about the Galaxy Camera 2 is that is going to be powered with Android OS and will sport a mirrorless design. The official look of the device is going to happen on 20th June.

The Galaxy Camera which was released last year had received mixed reactions from the buyers as well as critics. The device is fully featured camera and slots itself in the premium Galaxy line of devices. It was just a point-and-shoot camera. The camera device did not come with phone call function but allowed you to connect on the web on 3G

The Galaxy Camera 2 with its mirrorless design will rank itself in the DSLR category. There is a possibility that the device will come with several lenses which users can change according to his desire. The Galaxy Camera 2 is going to compete with the Sony’s NEX range. Sony’s camera device is quite popular but the inbuilt system software lets it down. Even though Samsung is not known for making high-end cameras, the Galaxy Camera powered with Android OS achieved good sales.

According to the recent rumors, the Galaxy Camera 2 which is going to be unveiled on 20th June is going to be available for sale in the month of July. The model number of the Galaxy Camera 2 is EK-GN120. As far as the specs is concerned, the rumor mill says that the device is  come out with 20.9 MP camera lens, Exynos quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage capacity, external memory card slot and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The display screen will be of 4.8inch and support 720p.

The mega event which is going to be held on 20th June will feature the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom which is a smartphone with high-end photography features. A good thing about the device is that you will get all the functions of a phone on this device. The Galaxy S4 Zoom will bring 3G and 4G connectivity, 4.3inch qHD screen that supports 960 x 540 pixels, 1.6GHz dual-core CPU, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and last but not the least, a 16MP camera lens with 10x optical zoom.

So, very soon Samsung is going to unveil a dedicate camera as well as a smartphone with advanced camera features. Definitely, the Galaxy Camera 2 is meant for Pro users. We need to wait and watch to know how the audience will react to it.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Price Rumored To Be £390

June 9, 2013 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

While announcing their Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung had not indicated anything about the price tag that the Smartphone would carry on it. However, unconfirmed sources point out the mini version of the Samsung flagship device will be around £390.

S4 Mini

For the price of £390 what the buyer would get is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini powered by a dual core 1.7 GHz processor running at its core. The display screen of 4.3 inch dimension would be based on AMOLED technology and have a resolution of 450 X 900 pixels. The gadget would run on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini would come integrated with dual camera – a front facing camera having a resolution of 1.9 megapixel while a 8 megapixel camera make up the rear. For connectivity the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini would have Wi-Fi, 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS. Bluetooth 4.0, LTE and NFC. The device would have 8 GB of internal storage data along with 1.5 GB of RAM. For those who require more storage, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will also come with a microSD Card slot.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is supposedly the budget variant of the Samsung Galaxy S4 model. For this reason it can be expected the price of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini would be lower than that of the Galaxy S4. As to when Samsung would officially acknowledge the price of the device is anybody’s guess right now. Other market factors play a big role in this regard, like when would other companies like Apple etc announce their new devices. Price of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini can therefore only be expected closer to its launch date. Maintaining the price details under tight wraps makes for competing firms inability to formulate their own pricing details for products they also have lined up for the market.

Galaxy S4 Mini, to Sport Similar Features as S4 with 4.3 inch Screen

May 31, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

After months of speculations, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S4 mini will be arriving soon through its official blog. The compact edition of the newly released Galaxy S4 is going to be available at affordable price and sport the latest Android OS

Samsung_Galaxy_S4_mini.

The Korean based tech giant had the same thing with the Galaxy S3 by releasing the Galaxy S3 mini edition. The release date of the Galaxy S4 Mini has not been disclosed by Samsung yet.

Recent sales reports show that in just one month after the release, more than 10 million handsets of Galaxy S4 were sold. This shows the immensely popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S4. By going by this, it is pretty evident that the manufacturer will want to release a scaled down and budget friendly edition of Galaxy S4 as soon as possible.

The Samsung CEO JK Shin officially announced that they are quite jubilant about the exceptional demands for Galaxy S4. The smartphone was aimed to make it useful as a life companion that would make the life of users simpler and richer. Samsung wants to offer more choices to the people on Galaxy S4 by introducing the compact and similar looking Galaxy S4 Mini. This way users will be able to take advantage of the flagship model at a reduced price.

As far as specs are concerned, the Galaxy S4 Mini will be housed with a 4.3inch qHD Super AMOLED display. It is going to run on latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. It is going to powered with 1.7GHz dual-core CPU and 1.5GB RAM. It will come with 8GB storage space onboard.

The rear cam is of 8MP and the front-facing cam is of 1.9MP. The device only weighs 107g. It will support 4G LTE connectivity. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. We feel that in the near future even the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS will be available for the device.

Panorama Shot, Sound&Shot, S Translator apps and many more apps that are exclusively available through Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on Galaxy S4 willl also be available on the Galaxy S4 Mini. It is going to be offered in two colors, white and black. Samsung has not spoken anything on the price of the Galaxy S4 Mini. By looking at the cheaply priced Galaxy S3 Mini, we can guess that the mini version of Galaxy S4 will be quite cheaper than the original S4.

Samsung aims to topple Apple as the most favorite smartphone maker in US by releasing high-end phones like Galaxy S4 and also make cheaper version like Galaxy S4 Mini for all kinds of buyers. The Galaxy S4 Mini may be available in three variants, a model that supports 4G LTE, a model that supports 3G HSPA+, and last a dual-SIM 3G model.

According to tech analysts, Samsung’s previous mini phone i.e. the Galaxy S3 did not achieve much success even though it offered similar features present on the original Galaxy S3. The phone had no issues and was quite decent. Some tech analysts felt that Galaxy brand name should be only used for premium smartphones and Samsung should have released the Galaxy S3 Mini with a different name. They might be feeling the same for the Galaxy S4 Min but we hope that the device manages to turn the critics wrong.

The Galaxy S4 Mini will be unveiled at the event which will be held on June 20th. It is going to be the event where Samsung is going to unveil many of its new products such as Galaxy S4 Activ, new Samsung ATIV S product and Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Spotted at Samsung UK’s App Site

May 27, 2013 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini being in the making have been doing the rounds for quite some time now. However, it seems we are now heading to a culmination stage given that the device has now make an appearance in the UK edition of Samsung’s app site. It was an accidental flash though, which may have been the handiwork of someone in UK in charge of the app site of the Korean company. Not surprisingly, the S4 mini has since been remove from the listing though it has been there long enough for it to have caught the attention of the hawk eyed guys at Redmond Pie.

samsung_galaxy_s4_mini

The nearest that we have had so far as a confirmation of the existence of just such a device were some blurry images supposedly that of the S4 followed by some clear images of the same when held alongside its big brother, the Galaxy S4. The specs that has emerged points to the S4 Mini having a 4.3 inch display which is 0.6 inch less than the almost 5 inch display that the S4 boasts of. That apart, the S4 Mini will also come with a reduced pixel density of 256 ppi which is quite a few pixels less than the 441 ppi pixel density that the S4 offers.

These apart, there also are a few compromises to be made on the performance front with the S Mini considering its expected to be powered by a 1.6 GHz dual core chip. Compare that to the Exynos 5 Octa 5410 processor that powers the S4 for the international market or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip that powers the US build of the Galaxy S4.

The S4 Mini though still has a niche market to cater to considering not everyone is interested in a phone that big as the S4. Then there also are many for whom the plethora of features that the S4 boasts of is not of much use or is too complicated for them to make the best of. They’d rather have a smaller smartphone offering the basic features while also sporting a reduced price tag.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini to arrive on AT&T 4G LTE this May.

May 19, 2013 By James Faulkner Leave a Comment

Samsung’s S4 project J has been on top of the rumor sheet since quite some time. Samsung Serrano, considered to be a part of Project J was being predicted to be the miniature S4 itself. But actually, the SGH-I257 may not be the Samsung S4 Mini.

Tinnier S4 is rumored to possess a qHD display, while some sources have recently revealed that the Serrano will possess a 720p display instead of qHD. This was indeed very confusing and questionable. S4 Mini and Serrano may not be the same devices that Samsung has planned to include in the S4 series this year.

ATT SPECTRUM

S4 Mini is supposed to release in July and will be carried by AT&T. Samsung is also keen on launching the S4 Activ, a rough variant of the 5-inch smartphone, featuring water resistant and dust proof coating, ideal for use at rugged environments. Samsung S4 Mini is said to possess a 4.3 inches S-AMOLED touch screen of 540*960 pixels resolution at a pixel density of 256 ppi.

The model will run on dual core 1.6 GHz processor and will be powered by Exynos 5240 chipset. An 8 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, autofocus, face detection, touch focus and geo-tagging will be present. S4 Mini will be released in two variants codenamed GT-19100 and GT-19192, which will support single-SIM and dual-SIM respectively. Reportedly, another S4 Mini variant codenamed GT-19195 supporting 4G LTE is awaiting release this May.

The 3G model of S4 Mini will possess 1GB RAM and the 4G-LTE variant will feature 2GB RAM, both with extendable memory capacity of up to 32GB via card slot.  The model will arrive in three different shades of blue, white and titan gray.

Reportedly, Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is another camera-intensive smartphone residing at the end of Samsung S4 series; rumors indicate that this camera-intensive S4 variant will feature a 16 MP camera with an advanced level of camera specs present in Galaxy S4.
