New iPad Mini Without Retina Display and Second Gen Google Nexus 7 in UK Markets

September 7, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

According to the Wall Street Journal’s latest update on Apple new iPad Mini 2, the Cupertino will be releasing the second gen iPad Mini 2 with Retina display later this year. However, new rumors are pointing towards the fact that Apple will be releasing the next iPad Mini without Retina display.

Not only our website but also various other sites are reporting that the new iPad Mini will not sport Retina display. The report is based on the logs of beta version of iOS 7. When the Wall Street Journal had reported the news, they did not confirm on the source from where they had got the information. They had only mentioned the news had come from a secret source that is familiar with the news.

According to the logs from the beta version of iOS 7, the iPad Mini 2 will come out with the same display that is present on the existing iPad Mini. The major difference between the two devices will be that the newer model will sport a powerful CPU and 8MP camera lens. This shows that the new iPad Mini will not be a major upgrade from the existing mini version of iPad.

As of now, we are not sure what can we call the next version of iPad Mini because it will only come out with upgraded internal specifications as compared to its predecessor model. It will be sort of an ‘S’ update like an update from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S. The new iPad Mini will be unveiled with the new iPhone and iPad in the next month.

New Google Nexus 7 2013 is undoubtedly the best tablet in the 7 inch category and soon it is going to be available for fans in UK. Very soon the second gen Nexus 7 is going to be made available through Google Play Store. However, many popular retailers are already attempting to get the Nexus 7 tablets before it is made available on the Google Play Store.

According to famous tech websites from UK, retail outlets have already started receiving pre-orders. However, these retail outlets are selling the Nexus 7 at a higher price compared to the price in US. The 32GB variant of Google Nexus 7 is priced at 450USD and the 16GB variant is priced at 350USD. On the other hand, the Google Play Store in US is selling the 32GB variant for 269USD and the 16GB variant is being sold for 229USD.

Google earlier promised to launch its Nexus 7 LTE tablet by late July, but the device has not made its way to the stores. However, just ahead of its release in the U.S. it has broken cover in China.

Google's Nexus 7 4G LTE Spotted In China Ahead Of US Release

The problem now is that Google has not yet released the tablet officially. Google promised to make it available on T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon in next couple of weeks. GottaBeMobile.com writes, “We’ve heard that the Nexus 7 LTE will arrive in Italy, and possibly elsewhere, in September, and it appears that the device has made an appearance before its upcoming release date in markets around the world.”

One user on Baidu has posted several photos of the new Nexus 7 LTE tablet that appeared in China. The pics shows LTE-capable Nexus 7 tablet. It was purchased for about $331 and it appears to be authentic. It is a Wi-Fi only model.

As China Telecom does not support 4G LTE, so the new device is not capable utilizing it, but it is clear it has the network capability and it could run 4G LTE.

Well, this is a signal that the Google Nexus 7 4G LTE is not just a rumored device, and it will be hitting the stores soon.

Touchscreen, GPS Issues Fixed With Nexus 7 2 Update

GottaBeMobile tech focused website wrote, “Fortunately, it looks like Google took notice of the issue as Google has confirmed that the Nexus 7 will be getting an update to fix those touchscreen issues. The confirmation was made on Google’s product forums and the company claims that the software is rolling out to Nexus 7′s to address the problem. There is no elaboration so it’s unclear if the update is aimed directly at this issue or if there are other things on board as well.”

As of now, Google has not elaborated whether it is just a software update to address to the major issues or an Android update.

Problems to the Nexus devices are not new. Earlier, in the original Nexus 7 device complaints about bugs with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean were reported.

Google Nexus 7 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update – Prepping Up Your Old Tablet with New Software

July 31, 2013 By Janet Vasquez Leave a Comment

Recently, Google rolled out the Android 4.3 update and the first device to carry it is the successor device of Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 2 is the first of the latest Nexus device to receive the Android 4.3 update. Google also announced that the Android 4.3 update will also be made available for the older Nexus 7. Google will be slowly offering the most recent Android update to older Nexus devices through OTA (Over-the-Air). However, if you wish to update your Nexus 7 now, there is a way to do it successfully.

During the recent Android and Chrome event, the Android 4.3 was unveiled by Google. It is an upgraded version of Jelly Bean and brings in better performance enhancements and features. Some of the new features include OpenGL 3.0 and Bluetooth Smart technology. The restricted profiles allow parents to protect the content on their phone from getting accessed by children. This will make any Android 4.3 powered device, a perfect family device.

Google has been quite slow in releasing the updates. Even though Android 4.3 update has been announced, it will take some time to get it through OTA. However, you do not need to wait as there are simple tricks that you can trick to get the update now. Here we are going to suggest you two options on performing Android 4.3 update on your older Nexus 7. The first process is easy but may not work on all Nexus 7 devices. The second option is to receive the update from Google by downloading and then manually installing it.

First Method
1. Navigate to Settings > Apps > All

2. Look for Google Services Framework.

3. Select Force Stop.

4. Tap on Clear Data.

5. Again, navigate to Settings > About > System Update.

If the update is available for your Nexus 7, you will get a prompt to download the software via OTA. This method is best suitable for Wi-Fi enabled Nexus 7 owners. The HSPA+ file is not available. So, it won’t work on HSPA+ enabled Nexus 7. Another problem with this step is that while installing the update something can go wrong such as internet disconnection. This method of installation will only work if the OTA update is made available for your device.

Second Method
The very first thing you need to do to get the Android 4.3 installed on your Nexus 7 manually is to get the Android SDK installed on your device. The next thing you need to make sure is that you running the most recent available version of Android on your device which probably is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the latest build JDQ39. The method which are discussing here is about installing the Android 4.3 update without custom recovery or rooting.

You need to download Android 4.3 update available for Wi-Fi enabled Nexus 7 from this link. After the downloading is complete, you need to turn off your device and go into the recovery mode. Then, you need to connect your Nexus 7 by means of a USB cable to your PC. Then you need to select ‘Apply update from adb’ option. From here, you need to type ‘adb sideload (you need to type complete file name here). If you are unable to perform the update, you can refer the informational guide available on XDA-Developers that will provide with step-by-step guidance on performing the update.

If you have done rooting on your device and are running on the stock edition of Android, you can perform a flash through custom recovery. In order to perform this step, you need to download the same file on your phone’s internal storage space and then restart your device and go into the recovery mode.

You need to select the option ‘install zip from SD card’ and then navigate to the file that you downloaded on your phone’s storage space. This step will allow you to flash your Nexus 7 and get the Android 4.3 update on it. If you need guidance on how to perform this step, you can go to the XDA Developers site for more details.

If you feel that performing the above mentioned methods are not easy, you can simply wait for Google to make the Android 4.3 OTA update available. It will become available for installation over the next weeks.

Google Nexus 7 2 – 2nd Generation Tablet Specifications and Flavored Rumors

May 19, 2013 By Janet Vasquez 9 Comments

Google is examining with variations in hardware. The second generation Nexus 7 is likely to endorse a sturdier and fancier build than its predecessor. Google’s affordable and utility 7-inch tablet is supposed to hit the shelves in July. Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the second gen Nexus 7 will be unveiled at Google I/O Conference 2013, but sadly all such rumors were left shattered.

Google Nexus 7 was a much adored tablet of 2013 due to its affordability and utility specs. But, arrival of Apple iPad mini stole the spotlight, endorsing a similar price tag and iOS. Next gen iPad Mini has been delayed in its launch and is supposed to release after Fall this year, around October. Google is currently trying its hands at stylization of hardware that it satisfactorily implemented in Nexus 7. But ChromeBook Pixel and Nexus 4 were notches above Nexus 7 in hardware.

Nexus 4 is an adorable smartphone with a spectacular outlook and is more attractive than its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Samsung Nexus 10 operated stock Android and is not comparable with iPad 4 over hardware and design but is certainly more pleasing than Nexus 7.

ChromeBook pixel has endorsed Google’s intellect in design and hardware. Anodized aluminum case is a premium material utilized in ChromeBook pixel in combination with a HD touch screen display. The disguised distracting parts like speakers, screws and vents visually stylize ChromeBook pixel.  It is expected that Google will abide by dynamic standards of design in its upcoming Nexus 7 2.

Reportedly, Nexus 7 2 will endorse a sturdy matte hind cover finish and a slim bezel redolent of the iPad Mini. Second gen Nexus is likely to boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a 1290*1200 p display with a pixel density of 323 ppi and also a 5 MP camera. The 4G LTE Nexus 7 2 will probably debut with Android Key Lime Pie v.5.0, which would then be its most startling spec.
