Nokia Lumia 1020 Price Drops to $199, Includes 2 Year AT&T Contract

September 10, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

The Nokia Lumia 1020 may not be the best smartphone out there or the best digital camera though it sure is the best smartphone camera your hard earned money can buy right now. Not surprisingly, ardent photographers who wished they had a device which served the dual purpose of communication as well as taking photographs of high standards while on the go, had the Nokia Lumia 1020 figuring topmost in their wish list. The only hindrance though was the stiff price tag that the smartphone featuring a 41 mp camera came with. The news to cherish here is that Nokia have finally decided to price the 1020 at par with other top end smartphone offerings, which stands at $199 after agreeing to a two year contract.

Meanwhile, AT&T also has another offer for owning the device, which as part of its AT&T Next program will require the buyer paying a monthly sum of $27 for twenty months to get this set. For those who wish to go for a one year contract the cost of the set works out to $449.99. As an additional sales incentive, Microsoft has also announced a Nokia Camera Grip to accompany the Lumia 1020 if it is purchased from their site or stores. However, it’s a limited period offer which will only be applicable till stocks lasts.

So far as specs of the handset go, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus chip, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. The display is based on Super AMOLED technology and is 4.5 inch in dimension. Resolution factor of the display is 720p and it boasts of Super Sensitive touch technology too. For networking it has Bluetooth, 802.11 a/b/g/n. It also has GPS and a micro USB port too.

Meanwhile, there are no firm details available of the Lumia 1020 launching with other carriers in the US. Nokia has been following a policy of having a separate version of its smartphone offerings for each carrier. What this means is that the Lumia 1020 will be an AT&T exclusive. Whether that makes for a profitable venture is a topic of debate though the price drop should no doubt bring the device within the range of many more prospective buyers.

Nokia Lumia 1020, 41 Megapixel Camera Windows Phone 8 Smartphone Surfaces

July 12, 2013 By Georgia Dawson Leave a Comment

Nokia has unveiled the new Lumia 1020 smartphone that comes with a staggering 41 megapixel camera. The Windows Phone 8 powered smartphone is expected to be available at AT&T stores on 26th of July in US. Nokia has describes the powerful camera capabilities of the phone by saying it has got ‘more detail than the eye can see’.

Nokia-Lumia-1020

The Finnish company has revealed that the phone will be available for $299.99 at AT&T on a two year contract. If you are interested in buying the phone, you can preorder it from July 16th. Even though the Lumia 1020 is packed with whole of features, the major feature is undoubtedly the 41 megapixel shooter.

Nokia has packed in an ultralarge camera lens which consists of six Carl-Zeiss lenses coupled with the firm’s very own PureView technology. The camera is supported with optical image stabilization. The powerful Xenon flash lets you snap highly detailed photos in dim lighting conditions. It has also got a smaller flash that complements the Xenon flash. It comes with 3x high resolution zoom, manual and autofocus.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 can be used to record 1080p full HD videos at 30fsp. The ‘dual capture’ feature allows you to snap photos of different resolutions at the same time. Tech analysts who have reviewed the phone have concluded that the camera quality is the best compared to any phone in the market. The Lumia 1020 is surely a competitor phone for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Nokia is surely to cover the lost ground in the smartphones market by using Microsoft’s Windows Phone – an OS which is struggling to keep up with the competition with the likes of Android and iOS. Nokia feels that unlike before people are now very much interested in sharing photos and video and this is the reason why the company is also focusing on producing phones with better cameras along with regular phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom which comes with 16MP camera and the iPhone 5 are no competition to the 41 megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020. Moreover, the phone’s camera is even better than some of the compact digital camera. Camera experts may feel that higher megapixels do not mean that it can take great photos but the quality of the lens is more important. Well, Nokia has managed to pack in supreme quality lens and higher megapixels in the Lumia 1020.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with 4.5 inch Super AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display that supports a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. Nokia’s Clear Back technology does well in avoiding outdoor glare. The display is well protected with the latest Gorilla Glass 3. Since it is predecessor to the Lumia 920, it also features the same ultrasensitive touchscreen which allows you to operate the screen by using your fingernail or gloved hand.

The Lumia 1020 is powered with 1.5GHz dual-core qualcomm snapdragon S4 CPU. The inbuilt storage capacity is of 32GB. It is complemented with 7GB of cloud storage space from SkyDrive from Microsoft. The phone does not come with external microSD storage. The other features of t the phone includes 2GB RAM, an extra 1020mAh battery apart from the main battery, LTE and HSPA+, NFC and Bluetooth.

Nokia is now started to flood the market by unveiling the Lumia 1020 soon after it announced the Lumia 925 and the Lumia 928. Nokia is also doing a great job to make available smartphones at every possible price point.
