Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update Delayed

August 28, 2013 By Troy Rubenson 1 Comment

Rumors regarding Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 continue to build up. Currently, the Galaxy Note 2 is running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It was in the news that the Galaxy Note 2 would be directly update to Android 4.3 instead of getting Android 4.2.

The news about skipping out on Android 4.2 was made public by ChristianPost when they came to know through Telstar, a leading cellular network service provider in Australia that the Note 2 would very soon get an official Android 4.3 update. However, a precise timing for the update was not revealed. The news that was revealed by Telstar was not backed up by Samsung.

samsung galaxy note 2

Telstar had announced the news in July which was the month when Android 4.3 update was released. Since July, Galaxy Note 2 users are expecting the Android 4.3 to arrive on their phone. Few days ago, Telstar again updated the list of devices that are going to receive the Android 4.3 update. However, this time around the Galaxy Note 2 can no longer be found in the list.

There is no information on as to why Telstar considered removing the Galaxy Note 2 from the list. Even though the Note 2 is still a powerful phablet, it is still running Android 4.1. The new list of devices from Telstar to receive Android 4.3 which does not list Galaxy Note 2 may be because they do not have the most recent information from official sources.

Another interesting thing we came to know is that Telstar does not have the Galaxy S3 on the list too. Even Galaxy S3 was supposed to skip out Android 4.2 to embrace the Android 4.3 update.

Tech experts have already started speculating on the issue. Some have even gone on to say that Samsung will not be releasing the Android 4.3 update for these devices. There are some others who feel that the update would be arrive for sure but not so soon. They feel that it would around November when both Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will receive Android 4.3 updates.

Even if the Android 4.3 update is made available for these devices, it all boils down to the respective carriers of these providers as to when the update will be made available to their customers. If the update arrives in November, carriers may release the update in the coming New Year.

The Galaxy S3 received the Android 4.1 pretty late in September 2012 and very soon Android 4.2 was released but the Galaxy S3 has remained on Android 4.1. The Galaxy Note 2 came out with Android 4.1 and even this phablet failed to get the Android 4.2 update and has been stuck on Android 4.1.

The Android 4.3 may not be a major update but it does bring performance enhancements for Android devices. If both the devices get the Android 4.3 updates, users of these devices will be able to enjoy some features of Galaxy S4.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Come Out Again with Snapdragon 600

July 23, 2013 By Troy Rubenson 2 Comments

In the midst of the rumors on the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3, we are now hearing that the Korean tech giant is working on a newer edition of Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The news is that Samsung is going to roll out a newer edition of Galaxy Note 2 powered with Snapdragon 600 CPU.

The Galaxy Note 2 that was released in September 2012 came with 1.6GHz Cortex A9 quad-core CPU and Exynos 4412 quad chipset. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is powered with Snapdragon 800 CPU. It was believed that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update would be not available for Galaxy Note 2 as the manufacturer were planning to directly offer the Android 4.3 update. However, the news of Snapdragon 600 CPU powered Galaxy Note 2 is quite surprising.

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-2

At present, the Note 2 is definitely not the main product anymore but its popularity has not decreased yet. The news about the new Snapdragon 600 Note 2 was revealed by G4 Games. They post spoke about a mysterious Note 2 product that was being tested at AnTuTu. The product managed to achieve 26,901 points and was powered with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS update and 1.9GHz CPU.

According to the website, the product is powered with Snapdragon 600. This is the same kind of CPU that you can see on the HTC One and Galaxy S4. The website stated that the Korean giant is going to launch the Galaxy Note 3 very soon and also other brands are also trying to launch products in the phablet category which is the reason it seems that Samsung may go ahead and release a cheaper edition of the Galaxy Note 2. This phablet will slot itself in the mid-range category.

The model number of the product that was tested is GT-N7018D which is different from the original Galaxy Note 2. The same product has been seen on the Bluetooth SIG website and it has been certified by the FCC as well.

The Galaxy Note 2 will be soon replaced by its successor Galaxy Note 3 which will come out with better specs. Going by the specs of the mysterious product, we feel that it is going to be on par with the Galaxy S4. The product will be first launched in the Asian market. Most preferably, China may be the first one to receive the new Note 2 which is going to be supported by TD-LTE network.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU supports LTE connectivity and helps in churning out better battery life. The device also supports Wi-Fi 802. 11ac which is present on the recently received smartphones like HTC One and Galaxy S4. The news on the Galaxy Note 2 new variant is definitely not fake as it has been already filed at the FCC.

.The device is definitely going to come with a lower price tag which will make it even more competitive. So, people who are not able to afford the Galaxy S4 or the forthcoming Galaxy Note 3 can go for the new Galaxy Note 2 variant which will come out with a cheaper price tag and powerful tech specs like that of Galaxy S4

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update For Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 Still in the Works

June 20, 2013 By Deborah Cobing 1 Comment

When it comes to Samsung, Sam Mobile is the best source for authentic news or information update on products related. Sam Mobile reports that Samsung mobile division had plans to come out with the update for their Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 devices. The update which was to push out the OS of these devices to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is yet in testing stages.  The update from Sam Mobile mentions the period of third quarter of this year which is July to September, when the update can be expected.

Galaxy-Note-2--S3

The update, the site mentions, is only for the non US region. Users in the US using the Verizon Wireless, Sprint, AT&T or T-Mobile services would need to wait much longer for their update. The Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S3 sets from Verizon reported bugs in its working. Samsung would therefore be very careful when they come out with a next update on any of their devices.

As of now, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 runs the Android Jelly Bean while the Galaxy S3 variant on the other hand runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich in some regions and in others the OS is the older version of Jelly Bean 4.1. There is talk about Samsung having plans to make their TouchWiz application compatible for the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 models also. As of now the TouchWiz application is found on the Samsung Galaxy S4 models which is the flagship model from Samsung.

.Wall Street journal has posted news about Samsung Galaxy S4 not doing well in the market, quoting the “less stellar” look of the gadget to be the reason. This holds true for other gadgets from Samsung too, mentions the report. The Galaxy S3 model is cheaper by price than the Galaxy S4, however the looks of both gadgets is quite similar. Samsung faces the threat of not being able to meet sales targets of the Galaxy S4 as customers would think twice before spending more for a gadget that looks similar to something that is already available at a lower price.
