Two New Samsung Tablets Are Coming in July

June 16, 2014 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

samsung new tabletsRecent reports tell us that the tech behemoth Samsung is planning to release two new Samsung tablets sporting the incredible AMOLED display this July.

The news managed to turn the tech world into a one big pool of reviewers, as it seems that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S models are better and more impressive than the iPad Air and the iPad Mini taken altogether.

The new Samsung tablets will arrive in 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch sizes and will cost around $399 and $499, respectively. While Samsung is considered the sharpest thorn in Apple’s side, it is well – known the fact that the company doesn’t joke when it comes to delivering competing products.

And so far, according to the tech journalists who managed to get some of these devices before the official release, agree that the two tablets are indeed spectacular in both looks and performance.

Given the fact that one of the best and most important features sported by the two new Samsung tablets consists in its high resolution, crystal clear display, we will start with the good news that might interest all the ones who love to watch movies and videos on their tablets and who love to stay connected to all mass – media forms:

the Korean manufacturer took the time to acknowledge its partnerships with corporations that are helping to provide a stellar experience for Galaxy Tab S users. Netflix, for example, will stream its movies and TV shows in 1080p for new tablet users, and Galaxy Tab S customers will receive a three-month unlimited membership to Marvel Comics. This doesn’t count the Washington Post, 6-month Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg Businessweek subscriptions, or the Conde Nast subscriptions to Vogue, GQ, and others. If you’re a fan of cloud storage, congratulations: you can now get 50GB of Box storage for 6 months, 50GB of Dropbox storage for 2 years, 3 months of 1TB of cloud storage from Bitcasa, and so on.

Want to talk about the specs? Well, we are all used to Samsungs’s flagship products, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise the fact that the manufacturer invested in both hi-tech specs and aesthetics of the two tablets. They are slim and slick, very light, very easy to use, sporting two color options, the dimpled plastic texture on the back (the legacy of the Galaxy S5), the same fingerprint recognition which is the signature mark of the S5, powerful batteries versions and the microSD card which can go up to 128GB of memory storage.

The month of July is not far from here, so we are all very excited to see with our own eyes the larger version of the Galaxy S5 delivered to the world. Not that the tablets game is being changed once more by Samsung, it will be a matter of months to receive news from Apple.

Best Performing Smartphone Display – Samsung Galaxy S5

April 1, 2014 By Deborah Cobing 1 Comment

Best Performing Smartphone DisplayWhen the Samsung Galaxy S5 launched, back in February, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the whole world was captivated. The smartphone seemed to be one impressive device that raised the bar in the industry and many still believe that it’s the best smartphone of the moment.  A new test, developed by DisplayMate Technologies, reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S5 has the best performing smartphone display.

Are you shocked or did you see this coming? To be honest, we expected the Samsung Galaxy S5 to be up there with the big guys when it comes to the display, but this study comes as a pleasant surprise.

These days, a smartphone’s display has to do much more than have nice color and respond well to your touch, now it has to have great contrast ration, viewing angles and accuracy – in other words, it has to be better than the human eye.

Best Performing Smartphone Display

DisplayMate Technologies is an important player in the display testing business and they’ve just come out with a report on the display of the new Samsung Galaxy S5. The company called the S5’s display the best performing smartphone display that we ever tested, which is quite an impressive feat.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display, full HD with an impressive 1080×1920 pixels. What’s so special about this display? DisplayMate says that it’s got the highest brightness, the highest color accuracy, infinite contrast ration and the lowest reflectance.

We’re no display geniuses, but that sounds like the Samsung Galaxy S5 with its best performing smartphone display is something that we should put our hands on, real soon. If you don’t know what above talk means, then know this: the Samsung Galaxy S5 performs better in outdoor lightning than any other smartphone and device they ever tested and also, the Galaxy S5 has the best performing smartphone display, 22% better than the previous Galaxy S4.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you own a Samsung Galaxy S5? Is the display really that awesome?

March 27, 2014 By Janet Vasquez Leave a Comment

htc one m8It’s hard to keep up with all the new mobile devices that flood the news every single day. Smartphones, tablets, apps, phablets, games and so on. But once in a while the pretentious mobile world gets very excited when something they’ve been waiting for some time is finally released. That’s the case with the new HTC One M8 smartphone that seems to be a serious competitor for Samsung Galaxy S5 and the superstar iPhone 6.

The Taiwanese company’s new baby is an improved version of the previous HTC One, especially when it comes to the “look” of it. It features an aluminum body that’s bigger and heavier than the last smartphone model. The HTC One M8 comes with a 4.7-5 inches screen and weighs around 160g. The processor is a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon, the display is a 5inch Super LCD 3 full HD with 1080p that’s protected by a Gorilla Glass 3 cover. The HTC One M8 gives you 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and an impressive support to up to 128GB with the microSDXC slot. The front camera is a 5MP dual lens Duo Camera and the battery has 2,600 mAh.

HTC One M8 smartphone – other features

The new HTC smartphone comes with improved speakers (BoomSound system) which gives it a louder, clearer sound. Another great thing about the HTC One M8 is the improved Sense 6 that extends the battery life by disabling any other data except for voice calls, text messages and email. HTC said that with only 5% of battery the phone will last up to 15 hours.

The HTC One M8 costs £529.95 and it’s available in Metallic Grey, Arctic Silver or Gold.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Revealed

February 25, 2014 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

samsung galaxy s5 revealedThe wait for Android lovers has finally come to an end, because the greatest Android phone is finally here! Samsung Galaxy S5 revealed itself yesterday, February 24, in Barcelona, Spain. Samsung’s CEO presented their new flagship phone and it is truly stunning. Let’s take a look at some of the new features this smartphone has to offer.

Adjustable Focus and 4k Video

Samsung Galaxy S5 revealed 4k video capture resolution, and with this Samsung just revolutionized the smartphone industry. 4k video capture is so hi-def that even the Galaxy S5 won’t be able to play it at its true resolution. That’s right, the device can only manage 1080p, so you’ll need to play the video on a high definition television or laptop, to truly enjoy the 4k resolution.

The camera has 16MP and also an added slow motion function (we’re looking at you, iPhone 5s!) and a fingerprint reader on the home button (still looking at you, iPhone 5S). The post-capture refocus selection is something that all people will enjoy. The Galaxy S5 also just became the smartphone with the fastest autofocus – it will lock on in only 0.3 seconds!

Under the Hood

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 2.5GHz Snapdragon processor… and yes, it’s quad-core! It has 2GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0 and you can choose between 16GB or 32GB of storage. It also features a microSD card slot, so you can upgrade your hard drive capacity. Rumors say that the new iPhone 6 will offer 126GB of storage, so Samsung’s move with the card slot was a calculated one.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Revealed Heart Beat Function

The heart rate monitor will track its user’s pulse and provide information through the fitness monitoring app. What do you think about this addition? Would you want to see your heart beat all the time? We think it’s quite a gamble and only time will tell if it’s going to stick.

One area that Samsung seems to have forgotten to improve is the battery life. They keep putting new features that will squeeze the life of the battery, yet it doesn’t do anything to help it out. For example, Lenovo’s S860 was revealed and it has more than double battery life than the Samsung Galaxy S5. Sure, it is more bulky and a lot heavier, but that won’t keep people from buying it.

The phone will come into stores on April 11, but no official pricing has been made available just yet. Start saving, it’s not going to be cheap!

Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Features vs. Galaxy Note 3

September 3, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Samsung Galaxy S4 is ruling the smartphone market. Even phones that somewhat similar or better specs than the Galaxy S4 cannot compete with Galaxy S4. Next year, the Galaxy S4 will be replaced by its successor Galaxy S5. Meanwhile, Samsung is already planning to release their new phablet handset, the Galaxy Note 3 in this week during the Samsung Unpacked 2013 event.

The Galaxy Note 3 release date which is going to happen tomorrow will soon compete with their in-house product Galaxy S5. The popularity of Galaxy S4 is at its peak now but even now rumors of the Galaxy S5 are spreading. We have got some rumored specs of Galaxy S5. Let’s compare it with the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 to see what’s in store for Samsung fans in the future.

samsung galaxy note 3

Design

For all its edition of Samsung Galaxy devices, the Korean tech giant has only used cheap plastic. This is the reason why people had criticized a lot when Samsung rolled out the S4 with plastic body. Remember Samsung Youm?  Earlier, Samsung had unveiled Youm which sported endless display. So, rumors have it that the Galaxy S5 it will come out with aluminum body and flexible display like that of Youm.

The Galaxy Note 3 will definitely not sport an endless display also it will come with the boring plastic design. However, it is the internal specs of the phablet that will mow down the other leading smartphones of the present times.

Galaxy S5, Note 3 Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is predicted to feature a 16MP camera which means it has more megapixels than what is expected on Galaxy Note 3. The Note 3 will sport 13MP lens along with optical image stabilization. The OIS is also feature which will come with the Galaxy S5.

Display
Apple is rumored to be working on a edge-to-edge display for iPhone 6. So, if this is to come true even Samsung should do something similar to compete with next year’s iPhone. It is rumored that the Galaxy S5 will have a 5inch full HD 1080p Super AMOLED edge-to-edge display.

Samsung was rumored to offer flexible OLED display on Note 3 but this is not going to happen. It will have a Super AMOLED display with full HD support. The display screen size of this phablet will be 5.68 inches.

Hardware
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is rumored to be available in two CPU versions. One will be Exynos 5420 CPU which will deliver a clocking speed of 1.8GHz. Another will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU which will deliver a clocking peed of 2.3GHz.

Experts are not talking much about the CPU details of Galaxy S5. So, may be a powerful octa-core CPU in two variants may be on the way. As far as the RAM is concerned, the Galaxy Note is rumored to come out with 3GB RAM. Tech gurus are of the view that even the Galaxy S5 will house a 3GB RAM.

Software
The Galaxy Note 3 will be running on the latest Android OS, the 4.3 Jelly Bean version. Since the Android 4.3 is not a ‘major’ update, we think that the Galaxy S5 will be blessed with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie or may even come with the existing Android 4.3 OS.

Release Date of Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5

Samsung’s best smartphones of the future will be releasing soon. The Galaxy Note 3 will be unveiled tomorrow and the release date in the United States will happen in less than 2 weeks if all goes well.

Where as Samsung has the habit of launching the S series smartphones in Mid March and same is expected for Galaxy S5 release date.

Until now, the Galaxy S5 release date has not been revealed by Samsung. So, throughout this year we will see new rumors about the Galaxy S5 from its design to its internal specifications out of which some are going to come true whereas many others will be just fake information.

Galaxy S5’s Design
The Galaxy S4 is now having a variant called the Galaxy S4 Active which is a dust and water resistant variant of the smartphone. Even though the Galaxy S4 is quite popular now, critics have criticized the device for its plastic form factor. The Galaxy S5 will be sporting an aluminum body. This will make the device totally resistant from getting damaged from water and dust. According to a source from Samsung, the South Korean tech giant is going to start using the new Design 3.0 standard in the forthcoming Galaxy S5.

According to recent rumors, Samsung’s acquisition of carbon fibre specialist company called SGL Group indicates that Samsung will go for design makeover in the future. Android 4.3 or Android Key Lime 5.0
If Samsung sticks to what it has been doing in the past, the Galaxy S5 is slated to release in April or May 2014. Let us talk about the operating system of the Galaxy S5. By the time, the Galaxy S5 releases, the Android 4.3 OS will become old. Also, Google is known for releasing the newest edition of Google Nexus device, so the Android Key Lime 5.0 operating system is expected to arrive on the Nexus 5. If the Google Nexus 5 with Android 5.0 comes out before the Galaxy S5, then the Galaxy S5 will surely come out with Android 5.0. So, it is early to predict whether the Android 5.0 will be available on the Galaxy S5.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs
The predicted Galaxy S5 specs indicate 2GHz octa-core CPU. The Samsung Galaxy S4 with the model number SGT19500, the manufacturers have made use of its own chip which announced as octa-core chip. However, it was not true octa-core CPU in which only four cores could be used at one time. So, we hope that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be powered with true octa-core CPU.

The LG G2 is predicted to come out with 3GB RAM. The LG G2’s release is just around the corner. By the time Galaxy S5 arrives, there will be more devices running on 3GB RAM. According to the rumor mill, the Galaxy S5 will be powered with 4GB RAM.

Since it is called S5, it should at least 5 inch display. Some other rumors predict that the S5 will sport a 5.2 inch design. The wider screen will offer better navigation. Also, it will come with an inbuilt technology called Smart Eye Tracking which will make navigation on the Galaxy S5 much smoother. The display screen of the Galaxy S5 will offer a resolution of 1080 x 1280 pixels or higher. Like any other smartphone, the Galaxy S5 will come with features like accelerometer, proximity sensor, compass and gyroscope.

Talking about the camera of the Galaxy S5, the rear will sport a 16MP camera and at the front there is a 5MP. Even though the Nokia Lumia 1020 is equipped with 41MP camera, the next best camera lens after is the 16MP camera of Galaxy S4.

The external storage capacity will be upgraded to 128GB. Other general features like GPS, NFC, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity will be available on the new Galaxy S5. The best thing about Galaxy line of phones is that as soon as they get launched, major carriers like AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile will start offering the Samsung Galaxy S5 at attractive prices.

What do you think about the Galaxy S5? Will it continue to rule the smartphone world or other brands like Nokia powered GDR3 Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry will give tough competition to it? Let us wait for the rumor mill to pour out new information. As soon as we get something interesting from reliable sources, we surely keep you posted on Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors and news.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumors Emerge, Possible Specs Discussed

July 5, 2013 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is still fresh in the market though its next flagship, the Galaxy S5 is already making its presence felt. This, in spite of the fact that it won’t be before April 2014 before we can expect the Galaxy S5 hitting the streets worldwide. It’s not that the S4 is not a beautiful piece of hardware though it’s not without its share of shortcoming. The prime grouse against the S4 has been its built quality with consumers accusing Samsung of having used cheap plastics for making the device. This assumes greater significance given its HTC counterpart, the One boasting a far better built quality. Under the circumstances, perhaps it won’t be a bad idea of going through what the next Samsung flagship, the S5 is expected to be like.

galaxy-s5

To begin with, the S5 will be seen running Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie which should surely be out by first half of 2014. The S5 is also rumored to feature an even better 16 mp camera at the rear while a 2 mp camera at the front will allows for video chats. While it’s not known what sort of a chip will be powering the new Galaxy S5, what seems likely is that the device will benefit from a 4 GB RAM. Similarly, the S5 is also rumored to come with a whooping 128 GB of internal storage. And just in case if that too is not enough, there will also be micro sc card support as well. In fact, some sources have even pointed out Samsung might go for twin micro sd card slot to ensure there will always be enough memory available to take care of all your storage needs. Coming to its display, most are likely to bet on a 5 inch AMOLED edge to edge screen.

And as for its construction, rumor has it that Samsung is considering doing that using carbon fiber. The benefits of carb fiber are already well know, that of a super durability without there being a weight penalty. Aluminum is also being talked about in some quarters as Samsung’s preferred material to bild its next flagship device.

However, we have to wait for some more months to arrive at a clearer picture.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Rumored to Come With a Metal Body

June 14, 2013 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

Samsung have been designing their Galaxy series of Smartphone’s with a plastic body. This is about to change if the talk that is going on comes true, and there is high probability of it being so.

The rumors doing the rounds is Samsung adding one more to their line of Galaxy models and this time it would be Galaxy S5. The second part of the talk mentions about the device having an aluminum body and not the plastic one which has been the choice of material for all their flagship devices till now.

S4

Samsung has good reasons for this change, as its previous release, the Samsung Galaxy S4 had to compete against the likes of HTC One and iPhone5, both of which sport metal body. Samsung followers also have been continuously demanding a change from plastic. All these factors add up to the possibility of the Samsung Galaxy S5 being made up of other material than plastic, being very high.

There is however the Galaxy Note 3 which is expected soon, that would have the same plastic body. It would only be with the proverbial Galaxy S5 model that the aluminum body can be expected and the general layout of the device would be as per Samsung Design 3.0 is what the talks mention.

Samsung must surely be having some prototype designs in place and is in the process of eliminating or selecting the most probable one to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 finally. Samsung has not confirmed or given any indication of the shift from plastic to anything else till now.

There is the issue of the shift from plastic body leading to the fixed back design. This would mean the microSD card slot also not being available on the phone. Other possibility being presumed is the display being made of unbreakable material. All these even if it happens should not be expected before spring 2014.
