On Monday, HP released their newest Android powered HP SlateBook in US shortly after it was released in Japan. What’s interesting about it is that the HP SlateBook x2 has arrived several weeks ahead of the expected shipping date. The HP SlateBook x2 can be yours only for $479. The arrival of the new Android tablet comes after the release of mediocre quality tablet in April this year. The new convertible tablet from HP looks promising.

The hybrid PC from HP houses a 10.1 inch LED-lit display screen. It has a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The full HD display delivers crisp clarity and it offers widest viewing angles. It supports multi-touch which makes it possible for you to tap, swipe and pinch simultaneously on the screen.

It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. It is powered with quad-core Tegra 4 CPU from Nvidia. It delivers a clocking speed of 1.8GHz.  It has got 2GB DDR3 memory. The internal storage on the device is 16GB. It is also comes with external memory in the form of SD card reader.

As far as other specs are concerned, the SlateBook x2 supports Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, an HD front-facing camera that can be used as a webcam and integrated microphone. At the backside of the device, there is a full HD camera. It weighs only 1.32 pounds.

HP also provides host of exclusive features on the SlateBook x2 like HP Imagepad, HP ePrint app, HP Printer Control, HP File Manager and HP Media Player. The DTS Sound + onboard delivers dynamic sound output. It comes with cloud storage service from Box which offers free 50GB lifetime cloud space.

What makes the SlateBook x2 to be called hybrid that the display can be detached from the keyboard after which you can use the device as a tablet PC. The keyboard is around ninety-one percent of a conventional keyboard. So, typing on the bundled keyboard is quite easy. The keyboard packs in secondary battery which makes it possible for the tablet to run longer in docked state.

When it comes to connectivity, the HP SlateBook x2 offers one USB 2.0 slot, HDMI slot, a combination input for microphone and headphone. With the dock attached the total weight of the 2.77 pounds.

The Android powered hybrid tablet from HP seems to be very promising. In April, HP had released a more expensive hybrid tablet called Envy x2. It was priced at $649.  It was powered with Windows 8 operating system and Intel atom CPU. Envy x2 sports a 11.6inch display screen.

The $479 may be on an expensive side but it also comes with extended warranty, external storage and accidental damage coverage. Going by the price, we can feel that the price of the HP SlateBook x2 is costlier than the most powerful tablets in the market. And it is little cheaper than the price tag of a usual laptop. The moment is detached from the provided keyboard, it can be used a tablet PC.
