Google Nexus 5 Rumored Features LTE AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Camera and More Inside

September 29, 2013 By Troy Rubenson 1 Comment

After the stock of Nexus 4 got over at many  of the retail outlets, Google hasn’t issued supply of new Nexus 4 units. This has been cited as clear indication of Nexus 5 arrival by the tech world. The Nexus 4 has been official discontinued and the successor device is dubbed as Nexus 5. So, if Google releases the Nexus 5 soon, it will find itself competing with the likes of iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, HTC One and so on.

Each year Google releases new Nexus smartphone and what’s special about Google smartphones is that the search engine giant exclusively brings the next Android release on it. The version of the Android which is exclusively made available on Nexus smartphones is called vanilla Android which cannot be found on any other smartphones.

The first Nexus smartphone was an HTC device, then followed Samsung Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Last year’s smartphone was LG Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 was a non-LTE device that came with HD display, great camera, fast quad-core CPU, vanilla Android 4.2 and more importantly an affordable price tag. The unlocked version was available for 349USD.

The price was one major factor that helped Nexus to achieve great popularity. Such was the popularity of the phone that Nexus 4 units were sold out twice and until February the phone was not easily acquirable. In 2013, the Nexus 4 continued to be one of the best smartphones of the year.

The popularity of Nexus 4 rose even more this year when Google lowered the price of the device by 100USD. The 8GB Nexus 4 variant was available for 199USD and the 32GB variant was available for 249USD. Apple could not compete with such a low price tag. The 16GB iPhone 5 continued to remain at 650USD.

nexus5

Nexus 5 is rumored to arrive in the fourth quarter of the year. Some have even specifically predicted the Oct 14 release date. Also, Google had recently announced Android 4.4 KitKat. So, it seems very likely that very soon Nexus 5 will arrive with Android 4.4 KitKat onboard. Although all rumors point towards an LG product, some rumors also indicate that the next Nexus device could even be a Motorola device.

Google Nexus 5 Design

Every year Google rolls out Nexus smartphones with new design. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was entirely made of plastic; however, the Nexus 4 came with plastic at the front and a delicate glass at the rear. The device appeared quite similar to iPhone 4S. So, we can expect a newly designed Nexus 5 this year. Some feel that the Nexus 5 design will be inspired from Asus Nexus 7 tablet. We have got a leaked photo of the possible Nexus 5 handset.

Nexus 5 Display
The Nexus 5 is rumored to come with a 5inch full HD display that will support 1080 pixel resolution. Recently, Google had leaked a video which featured a new Nexus smartphone with Android 4.4 KitKat. The device appeared to feature a display that was similar to that of Nexus 4. If you go the by the Nexus device that was shown in the video, we may not see any change in the size this year.

Nexus 5 Camera

If you had seen the infamous Android 4.4 KitKat, you would have also noticed that the device featured a larger camera sensor slotted at the top corner. The predecessor model had 8MP camera and according to the leaks, Google plans to offer an enhanced camera on the next Nexus smartphone. According to the rumor coming from FCC filing, the Nexus 5 may feature a 13MP camera which is the same one that is seated on LG G2.

Nexus 5 Specifications
The rumored has spurned after the device underwent FCC filing shows that the next Nexus device is an LG product with a model number LG D820. Rumors have it that it will come with a non-removable battery and there won’t be any external storage onboard.

Nexus-5-Battery

The Nexus 5 will be available in two formats namely 16GB and 32GB. The FCC filing also indicate that this time around, Google will pack in a powerful 2300mAh battery on Nexus 5. It will be powered with Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor which is the same process that powers up Galaxy Note 3.

It is quite understandable that Google will release the Nexus 5 with the new Android 4.4 KitKat. The said Android is expected to arrive in October which is presumed to be the same time when the next Nexus smartphone will arrive. Also the FCC filing of the suspected Nexus 5 indicates it will be running on Android 4.4

What Will be the Next Nexus Smartphone Called?
Well, all rumors are using ‘Nexus 5’ as the term to talk about the next Nexus smartphone. However, the official name of the product has not been announced yet by Google. Google released a successor unit for the Nexus 7 tablet year. However, they decided to keep the same name for this year’s 7inch tablet.

Carrier Support
According to the rumors from FCC filing, the LG D820 will be supporting LTE connectivity through AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. It did not mention anything about Verizon.

iPhone 5C Release Date Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile Shipping from Sept. 20

September 15, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Apple had announced a new mid-range iPhone 5C on Sept 10 and we felt that Apple will not waste much time in announcing the release date or making the phone available for sale and that is what the Cupertino company is up to now. Apple has already started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5C in eleven countries which include US, UK and Canada.

The iPhone 5C release date is expected arrive on all the well-known carriers in US namely, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. These carriers have already started receiving pre-orders for the new iPhone 5C from today. In fact, the new iPhone 5C is even listed on the Apple App Store for pre-order.

iphone-5c

The iPhone 5C is available in five colors namely, white, red, yellow, blue and green.  The handset will be available in two storage variants namely, 16GB and 32GB. The 16GB variant of iPhone 5C will be available for $99 through contract whereas the 32GB variant of the iPhone 5C will be available for $199 through contract.

If you wish to buy the 16GB iPhone 5C without contract, it would cost you $549. The 32GB iPhone 5C is also available without contract at a price of $649. According to Los Angeles Times, Walmart is offering a discount of $20 for customers who will pre-order iPhone 5C on contract. Sprint is going to make all the four colors of iPhone 5C available except for yellow within two weeks. The yellow iPhone 5C will arrive on Sprint’s network after three weeks.

If you are interested in the iPhone 5C, you can place a pre-order online now. However, your iPhone 5C will be shipped to you from Sept 20. The iPhone 5C tech specs are very similar to that of last year’s iPhone 5 which is discontinued. Apple is not making pre-order option available for iPhone 5S which is costlier device that packs in a swanky new faster A7 CPU, the innovative fingerprint sensor and an enhanced camera.

The iPhone handsets are so popular in US that in the previous year Apple had exhausted its online stock of iPhone 5 and that too within an hour. Then, the iPhone 5 could only be shipped to customers after two weeks time and then it gradually increased to three to four weeks. Customers who could not wait any longer visited retail stores to purchase the iPhone 5 without delay.

Another interesting piece of knowledge about last year’s iPhone 5 is that within 24 hours, the handset was able to attain 2 million preorders. And within the first three days of the release, the Cupertino company sold 5 million iPhone 5 handsets. Such is the popularity of iPhone 5.

Tech analysts are of the view that this time around the popularity of Apple could increase even more mainly because Apple has launched two new iPhones, one slots itself as a mid-range smartphone whereas the other one is a costlier premium smartphone. Both iPhones will be released on Sept 20 in eleven countries simultaneously and after a short while these iPhones will be made available in other regions of the world.

Apple is not only launching iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S but also a beeline of new accessories along with colorful cases. Apple has launched the iPhone 5C to target Asian markets. What do you think about move Apple’s move? Will the iPhone 5C be able gain good popularity in Asian countries like China and India? Do let us know your views.

iPhone 5S – Find Out Which Carrier is Offering the Best Deal in US

September 14, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are going to arrive on the leading carriers of US. Within this month, both the iPhones will be available on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile. However, these carriers are not going to release iPhones on the official release date but on a day chosen by each one of them respectively.

Most of the leading cellular service providers in US are offering 4G LTE connectivity. The iPhone 5S will be made available at $199 on carriers like AT&T, Sprint and Verizon through a two-year contract.  T-Mobile will be only the carrier as of now that will offer an unlocked version of iPhone without a contract. The price of the unlocked iPhone 5S will be somewhere between $650 and $850. T-Mobile will be offering the pricey iPhone 5S with a cheaper down payment scheme and monthly payments on the same day when the iPhone 5S is released officially.

iphone_5s

Verizon iPhone 5S
Verizon has got couple of iPhone 5S plans. The cheapest one is $70 per month for a period of two years. You get 450 minutes of talk time, 2GB data and pay per text with it. The average plan needs you to $100 per month for a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text and 2GB of data. The most expensive plan requires you to pay $415 per month for a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text and 50GB of data. Except the cheapest plan, both the other plans include free hotspot service.

Verizon offers the best 4G LTE connectivity. So, if you are for LTE, then Verizon will be the best choice. Verizon does not offer unlimited data.

AT&T iPhone 5S
AT&T exclusively offers roll over minutes features on all its three plans. This feat is not offered by another leading carrier. The cheapest plan requires you to spend $60 per month over a period of two years. You get 450 minutes of talk time, 300MB of data and pay per text. The average plan will make you spend $95 per month over a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text along with 2GB data. The highest plan is priced at $530 per month over a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text with 50 GB of data. AT&T offers free hotspot service on all its plans.

AT&T’s network is not that great in major areas like New York and San Francisco. Also, it is yet to offer nationwide 4G LTE connectivity.

Sprint iPhone 5S
Sprint has got two plans on board for iPhone 5S. The cheapest plan is priced at $70 per month for over a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time, text and 1GB of data with it. The average plan is priced at $110 per month over a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text along with 5GB hotspot service.

As of now, Sprint is not offering 4G LTE connectivity in major places. Even the 3G speeds are not that impressive. If you do not use much internet on your handset then you can go with better plans from AT&T and T-Mobile.

T-Mobile iPhone 5S
T-Mobile is selling the iPhone 5S on the same day when Apple will be officially releasing the handset. The lowest plan from T-Mobile costs $50 per month for a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text along with 500MB of data. The average plan costs $60 per month for a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text along with 2.5GB of data. The highest plan costs $70 per month for a period of two years. You get unlimited talk time and text along with unlimited data.

T-Mobile’s 4G LTE coverage is still below par. There is no carrier contract involved but there is a device contract that you need to clear to buy iPhone 5S over a period of two years. The unlimited data plan only offers a meager 2.5GB of hotspot service.

The Galaxy Note 3 was announced in the last week. It has come and replaced the Galaxy Note 2. It is one of the most awaited devices in US but still the Korean tech giant has not announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date. Still, much information is surfacing about different carriers and their offerings.

Throughout the year, umpteen numbers of rumors came out regarding the new Galaxy Note 3. Finally, the phablet was announced at the IFA event that was held at Berlin, Germany on September 4. The Galaxy Note 3 has come out with a slimmer body and refreshing design. It has got a 5.6inch large display that supports 1080p.

The Galaxy Note 3 is powered with a Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU and 3GB RAM. It has also got a 13MP camera. Talking of specifications makes us feel that the phone will take the numero spot from Galaxy S4.

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3jpg

Galaxy Note 3 release date is expected to be made available for purchase all over the world in over 140 countries on September 25th. However, the Korean giant plans to launch Galaxy Note 3 in Japan and October for US and Japan Though Galaxy Note 3 is yet to arrive in US, most of the leading carriers in US have already mentioned their plans for the upcoming phablet.

AT&T Galaxy Note 3

If you prefer AT&T’s network, you can go to their website and place a Samsung Galaxy Note pre-order. AT&T is not offering 64GB version of the device. As we thought, AT&T is offering the 32GB variant of Galaxy Note 3 for $300 on a two-year contract. Another deal AT&T is offering is to pay $35 for the 20 months for two years. Lastly, the device can be purchased for one year price of $550.

AT&T will also be offering Galaxy Gear smartwatch in the forthcoming weeks. The Note 3 is going to be made available for shipment from October 1.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3

T-Mobile will start selling the phablet from October 2. What’s unique about T-Mobile is that the phablet will be available for purchase without a contract. Buyers will have to pay down payment of $199 through the new T-Mobile JUMP plan. T-Mobile has not started with pre-orders but it has got a dedicated sign up page to get details on Note 3.

As far as Galaxy Gear is concerned, it will be up for sale from Oct 2 for $299. There are no options to get it through JUMP plan.

Sprint Galaxy Note 3

Sprint has not revealed any information on Galaxy Note 3 release date. We expect the phone to arrive on Sprint’s network by this fall. Going by what other leading carriers are offering, the Note 3 will be available with Sprint on a two year contract for $300. The 32GB model will be the variant that will be made available first whereas 64GB may arrive later on but definitely not now.

U.S Cellular Galaxy Note 3

U.S Cellular will be selling the Note 3 in October. However, they have not revealed anything on the plans and pre-order. So, potential buyers who are eagerly waiting to purchase the Note 3 may consider getting it from a different carrier.

We think that even T-Mobile will offer the phablet for $300 on a two year contract. Like AT&T, it will only be offering 32GB variant first and there is no news whether it will offer 64GB or not.

Verizon Galaxy Note 3

Verizon has started receiving pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 3. It is also offering pre-orders for Galaxy Gear smartwatch. On Verizon’s network, the Galaxy Note 3 is available for $300 on a two year contract. The phone is expected to arrive for shipment from October 10.

HTC One Sprint on Sale in Blue From September 10, LG G2, Moto X Next?

August 30, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

How about an HTC One done up in a cool shade of blue? Well, such a thing does seem likely, what with a fresh image of the device sporting the said color having emerged online one more time. As rumor sources have put it, it was first expected to make its appearance on the US based carrier Verizon. But a recent rumor goes by stating that it will be now be available at Sprint. According to the Sprint website, the HTC One Blue will be there for the taking from the 10th of September.

htc-one-blue

The addition of the new color will make Sprint’s HTC One lineup all the more colorful, offers as it does the HTC smartphone in other color options like a brilliant red, silver and the ever sophisticated black. Price remains the same $99 which is inclusive of a two year contract.

The HTC One has already been adjudged the best smartphone of the year (2013) though in an age where technology ages extremely fast, the device could well be considered to be losing its sheen in the face of newer competitors that have entered the fray. It continues to be the gem of a smartphone though it is always the newer devices that attract the most attention. This should apply to the likes of the Moto X, the new Droid series, the LG G2 as well as the new iPhone series expected to be released next month.

In such a scenario, offering the device in different attractive shades does help to keep the lineup fresh and its appeal intact.

AT&T Moto X Release Will Follow Verizon, T-Mobile Moto X Release Date

August 26, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Motorola Mobility has got couple of phones up its sleeves to release this year and come back into competition. One of the most rumored Motorola phones in recent times is the Moto X. The device is expected to first come out on AT&T’s network. Motorola is making their exclusive customization service called Moto Maker to AT&T subscribers. Recently, one executive from Motorola indicated that the phone will soon arrive on other popular networks of US.

moto-x 1

Punit Soni from Motorola Mobility shared on Google + as “Designed by You. Assembled in the USA. Available today at AT&T stores”. He also shared “Step 1 of rollout. Dev editions, other carrier versions rolling out in days”. In order for the Moto X to stand cut above the rest, the makers are advertising it as the handset that has been entirely assembled in US.

After releasing the Moto X on AT&T networks, Soni has indicated that it is only first step and soon the handset will be made available on other networks. He has clearly indicated other networks in US to support the Moto X. The announcement has come after the release of Moto X on AT&T networks was followed by enthusiasts who are eagerly waiting for the phone to arrive on other networks.

If you visit the link we have shared above, you will see numerous comments wherein potential buyers are requesting Soni to make the phone available on other networks. The recently released handset is the first flagship device from Motorola after it was acquired by Moto X. Though other Motorola Droid phones are also slated to release soon, it is the Moto X which has gained huge popularity.

When the Motorola Moto X was launched, the manufacturers had announced that the phone would also be available on other networks in due course of time. Since the phone has been entirely assembled in US, we feel that the handset is evitable to come out on Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless in the near future.

What we do feel about the release on Moto X on other networks is that these providers (except Verizon Wireless) will not be providing the Moto Maker customization service through Moto X’s website. The Moto Maker will be exclusively available only for AT&T users.

The Moto Maker service allows users to customize the phone completely with unique style and color on the website before they purchase it. Verizon Wireless had reported that they will also be offering the Moto Maker service in this month but they did not mention the precise time for it. They had only mentioned ‘later this year.’

The Moto X’s customization capability is what makes it different from other smartphones in the market. Also, it comes with 4.7inch display that supports 720p. At the rear there is a 10MP camera lens and it has got an exclusive processor that continuously listens to the sounds of the surrounding. This feature will allow users to use the phone through voice commands without the need of touching or holding the handset.

Motorola Moto X on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile (all major carriers)

August 24, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Moto X is one device that will surely put Google acquired Motorola Mobility back to track. Since a long time we have been rumor about the mysterious X phone from the Motorola and it is only during the recent times that we came to know that this flagship device will have customization capabilities as its main USP.

moto x

If you have been following the Moto X on the web, you will be wondering where and how you can lay hands on the device. It is said that the entire handset will be completely constructed in America and it is going to be available on the major networks on US. So, you will be able to get the Moto X phone through Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile.

The Moto X is expected to be available at the last week of August or by early September. The device will be first available in United States, Canada and Latin America. So, Asian markets will have to wait a little longer to grab their Moto X phones. However, if you are living in the aforementioned places, you are lucky enough to taste the device first.

The Moto X will be available for 199USD on a two year contract with popular names like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and US Cellular. However, it will take some time for T-Mobile to start selling the Moto X. Recently leaks about the T-Mobile powered Moto X shows that the device will not be directly sold by T-Mobile but it will be made available through Motorola channels. Even Magenta will be offering Moto X but the details on it will be revealed later.

Even the popular online shopping site, Best Buy, will be selling the Moto X. The Moto X from different cellular network service providers will be sporting their brand logos respectively. AT&T customers will be the first one to avail the Moto Maker service which will allow users to completely customize their Moto X phones. It is a website that will provide customers with all the possible features that will help in customizing the Moto X phone.

If you will be purchasing the Moto X through other carriers, as of now there is no information on whether you will get the customization options but you will only able to make a choice between black and white colored Moto X device. AT&T and Sprint will be releasing the Moto X on Aug 23. Verizon is the first one to release the Moto X. It is going to launch the device on Aug 29.

iPhone 5C Release Date, Specifications, Features Carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile)

August 18, 2013 By Troy Rubenson Leave a Comment

Samsung has got low budget device the Galaxy S4 Mini. HTC is going to bring the HTC One Mini and now Apple is working on launching a low budget iPhone 5. The device is called iPhone 5C. Analysts feel that the device will cost anywhere between 300USD to 400USD. The iPhone 5C will be priced quite less compared to the price of the flagship device.

Rumors about Apple to manufacture low budget version has been doing round for years but it is only now that the rumor is really going to come true. Apple is also slated to release an upgraded version of iPhone 5 called the iPhone 5S in the next month and it may be also the time when the budget friendly iPhone 5C will also enter the market.

iPhone 5C Design

iPhones are priced high mainly because it is made from high-end components. The aluminum body of the iPhone 5 is simply very irresistible. So, we can guess that the iPhone 5C which is going to slot as a cheaper device will be covered with low-cost plastic case.

Many new smartphones are being rolled out in different colors [courtesy Nokia Lumia devices] like Samsung Galaxy S4 and Moto X. We feel that the cheaper iPhone will also be made available in different colors. The tech world is considering the ‘C’ in iPhone 5C stands for color or cheap. Colorful iPhones will sure look amazing.

iphone 5Cplastic

Specifications
The iPhone 5 is getting upgraded to the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 4S is still available on sale and is also doing well. Experts are of the view that the iPhone 5C will come with more or less the same hardware specs that is present on the iPhone 4S. Going by this, the iPhone 5C will sport an 8MP camera and A5 chips manufactured by Samsung.

There are other rumors as well that say that the Apple iPhone 5C will come with 5MP camera. However, with an 8MP camera, the device will remain competitive to compete with the likes of Moto X which will come with 10MP camera.

This reminds us of the iPad Mini which has got the specs of iPad 2.  Leaked information about the iPhone 5C indicates that it will come out with a 4inch Retina display. This would be put the device on par with the forthcoming iPhone 5S and the existing iPhone 5 which also same sized display.

The iPhone 5C is rumored to come out in different storage variants like 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It will be equipped with 1GB RAM. The iPhone 5C will also have a 1.9MP front facing camera.

iOS 7 Operating System

When there is a new version of iOS in the making, Apple likes to launch it with the new edition of iPhone. The iOS 7 is going to arrive soon so it would not be surprising to see the cheaper iPhone 5C to sport the shiny new operating system.

Even if the iOS 7 will be made available on the iPhone 5C, it may not have high-end features like the AirDrop or in-camera filters. Also, it is quite evident that iPhone 5C will not have the iPhone 5S.

Siri, the intuitive voice-assistant which released on the iPhone 4S and then it came on iPhone and iPad is one of the best features of the iOS. However, the cheaper iPhone 5C may not be blessed with Siri. The iPhone 5C will be powered with a low-end CPU. Siri requires Apple A5 CPU to function and this may be the reason why the iPhone 5C may not get Siri.

iPhone 5C different colors

iPhone 5C Carriers
Till now, there is no news as to which carriers are going to support the new iPhone 5C. Like most of the predecessor models of iPhone, we can expect the iPhone 5C to be supported by different carriers. So, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular are the mobile networks which will support the iPhone 5C.

iPhone 5C Price

Most analysts are of the view that the iPhone 5C would be available for 300USD on contract. Some also feel that the pricing of the iPhone 5C will be around the pricing of Google LG Nexus 4.

The Google Nexus 4 has achieved such a success because it was available for sale at a very low price. Apple has never offered its product at ‘dirt cheap’ price. However, many Android phones are available at low prices. So, Apple iPhone 5C has to come out at a competitive price so that it can attract Android users.

iPhone 5C Release Date

When is the cheaper edition of iPhone 5 going to arrive? The big Apple event is slated to go live on September 10. The event is being held to reveal the new flagship device. Even if the iPhone 5C is announced on September 10, patrons will have to wait little more. It has been seen that Apple usually waits for the following Friday after the unveiling to take pre-orders. So, it may be available for sale from September 20.

BB A10 Release Date – Sprint to Carry New BlackBerry Flagship Phone

June 11, 2013 By Janet Vasquez 1 Comment

The new BB10 operating system marks BlackBerry’s return to the big scene after having driven almost the brink by competitors such as Apple and Samsung in the last few years. So far, the company has come up with two handsets based on BB10, the full touchscreen enabled Z10 and the Q10 that comes with a QWERTY keypad. Both the models are available in the US market and has met with reasonable to good response.

However, BlackBerry is all too aware just two smartphone models won’t ensure its survival in the cut throat competitive market of today. They have already ceded a lot of territory to other handset makers and it only has to make positive moves from now onwards to ensure hey survive in the long run. Towards this, Blackberry is already believed to be neck deep in the development of another device which is expected to be launched later in the year.

BlackBerry10

Codenamed A10, the new device will take over from the Z10 as the new flagship device featuring a full touch enabled display. The Z10 in turn will slip to a rung lower but is not likely to be phased out altogether. Instead, the Z10 will be settled as a mid-range device. Another point of interest is that Sprint in all probability would have priority with the A10 though not an absolute exclusivity. This, many believe has been the reason for the carrier not evincing any interest in the Z10 model as it was waiting for the A10 to be out.

The A10 release dates have not yet been confirmed officially. It can however be expected to be available in November. When would the other carriers come out with their announcement for the A10, is yet not sure. Details about the A10 are also as of now not available. It would have a 1080p display is what the talks suggest. Hopefully, we would be able to get to the bottom of this as we drift towards the month of November.
