Sony Issues New Update For Xperia Z1, Leads to Even Better Performance of the Rear Camera

October 25, 2013 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

When Sony had launched the Xperia Z1 device, it wasn’t just a smartphone that the company had unleashed. Rather, it was one device that had a lot running on it. with the going increasingly getting tough in the digital age, what Sony needed is a blockbuster of a device that could turn its fortunes around. And the Xperia Z1 delivered on that count handsomely. The device has been launched as Sony’s flagship model and while the Z1 never turned out to be the best selling smartphone in the premium segment, it did sell in enough numbers to ensure Sony remained in the smartphone race. It has lot many features that does make it suitable to be termed the flagship model and also if it did not have that suffix, on its own terms the device is quite a blockbuster.

The device has a special credential to it being a waterproof set. This is not quite there in most other smartphones currently available in the market, something that makes it quite distinct. The camera that the Xperia Z1 sports also boasts of quite a few powerful and advanced features. Yet Sony has gone on to work on the camera and rolled out an update which adds more dazzle to the camera. The update is applicable to the rear facing camera of the device.

The update adds features like Sweep Panorama AR Effect, Burst Mode and Superior Auto to the camera. A photograph or rather two that provides the viewer with a comparison of the final product from the camera before the update and after the update brings to light the distinct differences of the two images. What the user would get after installing the update is a much clearer and sharper image. The color is more vibrant also and the contrast effects are just great.

The update has already started to reach user’s end. Further, users who have downloaded and installed the firmware update have not complained of any misgivings so far. As such, there shouldn’t be anything that should hold back those who own a Sony Xperia Z1 to try out the update on their smartphones. Not to mention the shutterbugs who take photography with their smartphones rather seriously.

September 4, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

Sony finally has lifted the veil off its Xperia Z1 which was at the center of many a rumor story for months. The latest Sony smartphone is also among the new crop of devices that flaunts its photographic abilities more than anything else. However, that does not mean it is a laggard on other areas, equipped as it is with the latest Snapdragon 800 chip rated at 2.2 Ghz, which together with a 2 GB RAM ensure performance of the highest order. Staring at your face will be a 5 inch full HD Triluminos LCD that benefits from Sony’s own OptiContrast and X-Reality display technologies. The Z1 also includes 16 GB of internal storage which is expandable to up to 64 GB via micro SD cards.

Powering the device will be a 3000 mAh battery pack. Other features of the smartphone include Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and GLONASS. Other connectivity options the device comes with include LTE, Wi-Fi and NFC. Also, much like the other members of the Xperia family, the Z1 too is water and dust proof. The smartphone also benefits from the OmniBalance design theme that is a hallmark of all Xperia devices while the aluminum build makes for a sturdy build quality.

Saving the best for the last, the Xperia Z1 comes with a 20.7 mp camera at the rear. The camera benefits from G Lens along with other tech bits such as BIONZ mobile image processing engine, f2.0 aperture and so on. There is also several camera oriented apps on board to allow for the best image sharing and processing experience. Social Live is one that will allow the images to be shared on social networking sites such as Facebook with the least fuss. A nice feature of the Z1 is the Timeshift burst which enables 61 images to taken at one go with just one press of the shutter.

All in all a nice smartphone with some impressive internals. However, the company is yet to reveal the pricing which will be crucial to it becoming a success in the market.

Sony Xperia Honami Mini (Xperia Z1) to Come with 4.3Inch Display and Snapdragon 800 CPU

August 28, 2013 By Troy Rubenson 1 Comment

The battle for the ‘mini’ line of devices is getting hotter and hotter. Samsung was the first one to roll out Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and then it came out with S4 Mini. HTC has also joined the bandwagon by producing the HTC One Mini and Sony is building the Xperia Honami Mini which will take on the other Android ‘mini’ phones.

Sony is all set to release its flagship smartphone codenamed as Sony Honami in September’s IFA event. Some other sources have revealed that the phone will called Sony Xperia i1 whereas an active member from XDA Developer forum named DooMLoRD has revealed ‘Sony Xperia Z1’ as the name of the new flagship device. The Sony Honami will be soon followed by the Sony Honami Mini.

Sony-Honami-Mini

What’s so cool about the Honami Mini is that manufacturers will be building the device without downsizing the specs of the phone. According to the recent leaks, the Honami Mini will be sporting a 4.3inch Triluminous technology 720p display. The phone will be powered with 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor which is the same CPU that will power the Sony Honami.

The Sony Honami Mini will also come with 2GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 16GB. It will support external storage on microSD. The 2400mAh battery is what that will power the Sony Honami Mini. Like the larger model, even the smaller Honami will feature a 20.7 MP camera.

The 20.7 MP camera lenses on both the Honami is going to be the USP of the device. The 20MP camera on the Honami Mini will come with f/2.0 aperture and 1/ 2.3” sensor which are also present on the original Honami. So when we look at the major specs of the phone, we can understand that Sony desires to offer the same set of the features that is present on the larger Honami but only reduces the size of the display and battery capacity.

The HTC One Mini and Galaxy S4 Mini both have downsized specs. However, the Sony Honami Mini has got powerful specs and certainly seems to be a better phone the other two. This makes the Honami Mini one of the most awaited phones from Sony.

Sony will be unveiling the larger Sony Honami on September 4 before the commencement of IFA even that will be held at Berlin. However, till now Sony has made any concrete official announcement on the original Sony Honami. So, we will have to wait little longer to hear about the Honami Mini from Sony.

Do you think the Sony Honami will bring a revolution to the phones that are dubbed as ‘Mini’? Will you consider buying the Sony Honami Mini over Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One Mini? We would like to know what you think about the powerful Sony Honami Mini
