A college professor from Texas has had enough from his students and decided to flunk them all in an attempt to make his point.
Professor Irwin Horwitz who teaches management, informed the entire class via email that they had all failed his course and referred to them as a disgrace for Texas A&M Galveston. The college professor told them that it was his decision to stop teaching the course as he couldn’t take it anymore and that he has had enough.
Horwitz explained that the situation has reached the final drop after he has gone trough an entire semester of having to put up with disrespect, cheating and lying.
In his planned and thought email in which he explained students that they have all failed his course, Horwitz added that this specific class showed incompetence and did not dispose of the maturity required by a serious job. He realized that the students were unable to do some of the most basic things which they should have known by now, explained the management professor.
Another situation mentioned in the email was the behavior of the students towards him. He gave examples of students telling him to chill out, to ”get out of my space”, students cheating and acting inappropriate and even calling him a moron.
More than that he claimed that students have started to backstab him and spread false rumors about him and his wife online. Horwitz added that the situation became so uncontrollable in the class that he felt that it would be safer to have police assisting his classes.
The news came as a shock for the students who had not seen this coming. One of the students flunked by Horwitz stated that he was supposed to graduate in May and now this will affect his job he was planning. He claimed that he has never had a problem in Horwitz’s class and that he had done well in his test adding that the entire situation was ridiculous.
Horwitz is just as surprised as in his 20 years of teaching he said that he has never failed a class and him failing students was a very rare thing. This class was a special case and there are times when learning can be done only with the help of though love, explained the professor.
After informing his students about his decision, he also sent an email to the board of the university and told them what he had done. He assumed that the students will fight his decision and told the board that the class was no longer his problem.
A representative of the university said that the falling grades might not apply as students who are passing the course academically are not failed.
The accusations brought by Horwitz will be investigated and there will be applied disciplinary methods against the students who acted inappropriately.
