Toshiba is showing off two new Windows 8.1 based devices at the ongoing IFA event, each targeted at a specific segment. The range starts with the Encore which an 8 inch tablet device aimed at those looking for a decent tablet at an affordable cost. The other device Toshiba has brought along is a convertible tablet named Satellite Click which includes a detachable keyboard and a separate display unit that can function as a full-fledged tablet.

To start with the Encore first, the device is built around the upcoming Intel Atom Bay Trail chip which its makers claim to have been designed for performance enhancement without sacrificing on the battery front. Other tech bits associated with the Encore include a 2 GB RAM, and 32 GB of internal memory. There is a micro SD card slot as well which will allow the addition of another 32 GB if needed.

Meanwhile, the encore comes with a healthy mix of connectivity options, which includes a micro USB 2.0 port, micro HDMI slot, along with Wi-Fi and GPS. The device also packs in a 8 mp camera at the back along with 2 mp unit at the front. The device is less than half an inch of thickness and weighs less than a pound. However, the best thing with the Encore is that the tablet has been priced a quite modest $330. Toshiba is expected to launch the Encore by November.

Coming to the Satellite Click, the device offers a 13 inch display which makes it quite the right size to make for a decent laptop. What this also means is that once detached from the keyboard, it will be a 1366 X 768 pixel 13.3 inch tablet at one’s disposal.

As for its internals, the Satellite Click features an AMD core, dual core AMD A4 to be precise. It comes with 4 GB of RAM along with 500 GB of internal storage. The tablet part also includes a micro HDMI and micro USB ports while the keypad unit houses a USB 3.0 port. The keypad also comes with a battery unit of its own.

The Satellite Click is expected to go on sale towards the end of this month itself and is priced at a decent $599.
