According to a post on its official account, Twitter will roll on a new feature called #Stickers. The first impression of this new option for the news service is that Twitter adds stickers to its list of improvement in an attempt to keep its users engaged.
The second quarter of 2016 did not look as good for Twitter as for the other social media platforms on the market. Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and others are slowly stealing the spotlight, leaving Twitter in a cone of shadow.
In an attempt to keep its users interested and engaged (after statistics have shown that more people are leaving the platform than joining it), Twitter added stickers, like on Instagram or Facebook, only they have a special catch.
The new #Stickers feature that will be released soon works approximately like any other sticker option on social media websites; only it offers a new, interesting twist.
According to Twitter’s official account, the stickers (which look pretty general like a bottle of champagne, aa pair of sunglasses, a sun, a cocktail, and other generic pictograms) will double as a hashtag.
In other words, when a user will add, for example, a bottle of champagne to a picture, the other users that are viewing the post will be able to click on the champagne bottle and then browse all of the other pictures that were embellished with the image.
The #Stickers will be highly versatile. According to the social media platform, users will be able to add them anywhere on a picture, resize and rotate them to their heart’s desire. This option is not that different from what Snapchat offers (of course, Snapchat has a wider variety of colorful cartoon stickers, but they are basing their entire business on them).
The difference between #Stickers from Twitter and Snapchat’s version of the colorful add-ins to the users’ photos is the fact that #Stickers, as the name suggests, double as a hashtag.
The network has not provided a release date for the feature, but they hinted that the new option will be made available soon for all of their users.
Now that Twitter adds stickers, what do you think about the network? Will this change affect their users in the sense that people will stop abandoning the services offered by the platform?
