It looks like the United Arab Emirates are ready to break another record, after the outstanding performances that made them famous. According to the latest news in connection to the mission to travel to Mars in 2020, it seems that the United Arab Emirates are preparing to join the finest club of national space agencies which have the power to turn such an ambitious project into reality. On Monday, senior officials talking on behalf of the United Arab Emirates recently created space agency have offered the world some hint about their future activity. Their plan is to integrate the technology they have into the Mars mission in order to begin the humans` journey to conquer other planets and turn them into Earth-like life sustaining habitats. The Arab world has a representative to participate in what may be the most important project of the space agencies in the entire history, as UAE may attempt Mars mission in 2020.
Well, it might surprise you to hear that there is more to the United Arab Emirates, a federation that brings together seven states than you have known by now. The media has made a lot of fuss about the artificial palm islands and the fantastic hotels of Dubai. Burj Khalifa is another name that you may be familiar with, since it is currently the world`s tallest building ever created. You may also know some things about the oil industry in the United Arab Emirates and about their huge investments in tourism. However, there is a chance that you have not yet imagined the United Arab Emirates as a space exploration power. At this moment, the Arabs in the UAE are working to change that and to become the most important part of the Arab world, involved in space exploration and other fields affiliated to it.
Moreover, the space agency of the UAE is very young. It was created in 2014, through a presidential decree, and they have already figured out a strategy for the near future. The most important points on the list are the satellites to orbit our planet and the involvement in the Mars mission of 2020.
“The United Arab Emirates is seeking to confirm its status as a spacefaring nation in which the industry plays a key role in sustainable economic development,”
Khalifa Mohammed Thani al-Rumaithi has said in a statement. He is in the position of chairman of the United Arab Emirates space agency.
