It took quite some time for Verizon to release their Samsung Galaxy S4. Finally it has arrived. AT&T, Sprint, U.S Cellular and T-Mobile which are some of the leading cellular networks have been already offering the Galaxy S4 which was officially announced by Samsung in the month of March. The flagship Galaxy S4 replaced the Galaxy S3 with new features and powerful hardware.
The Galaxy S4 comes with 5inch display that supports full HD 1080p, quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU, 13MP camera, 2GB RAM, microSD slot and marvelous design. The Galaxy S4 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean which is the latest version of Android available.
Verizon is one of the most preferred cellular networks in US. In fact, many were actually waiting for Galaxy S4 to come to Verizon. Here are five things you should know about Verizon’s Galaxy S4:
Largest 4G LTE Network
What makes Verizon different from other cellular networks? It offers the largest 4G LTE network. After Verizon announced the release of Galaxy S4 on their network, there has been such a huge hype which cannot be compared with launches on other cellular networks. Covering over 497 markets across US, Verizon is one the most reliable LTE network. AT&T is the second largest LTE network provider.
So, a person purchasing Verizon’s Galaxy S4 is confident that wherever he travels in US, he will surely be able to access 4G LTE readily. On other networks, you don’t get access to 4G LTE and you may have to wait for couple of weeks
Cost
You can get Verizon’s Galaxy S4 for $250. Retailers of Verizon such as Amazon and Staples may offer the Galaxy S4 at a lower price like $180 or $199 and that too without a mail-in rebate. So, if you are planning to buy Verizon’s Galaxy S4, we suggest you to get it from a third-party retailer.
16GB Version Only
The Galaxy S4 is available in storage variants such as 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. However, as of now, Verizon is only offering 16GB version of Galaxy S4. Even though the space is less, the device also comes with an external microSD slot that can detect up to 64GB. After some time, Verizon will make 32GB and 64GB version available but there is no official confirmation on it
Slower Updates
It is sad but true fact that when it comes to fixing bugs and updating the OS, Verizon has always been the last to receive them. So, if Android 4.3 or 5.0 will be available in the near future, Verizon will be the last cellular network to receive the update whereas other network providers may receive it early.
Unlocking Possible
Developer Dan Rosenberg has claimed that in the near future a bootloader unlock will be available. Unlocking will allow users to customize their according to their wish by installing personalized software. Even though Verizon has locked the device but unlocking will surely be possible in the near future.
