The next edition of iPad Mini was supposed to be out by this time. However, speculations are going on that Apple is planning to release the next gen iPad Mini in 2014.
Google made a very smart move by releasing the second gen Google Nexus 7 at a time when there is no serious competitive device available in the market. The Nexus 7 has got a very high resolution display screen and is powered with a very fast performing CPU. It is smaller in size and is available at a low price. Also it packs better graphics and other features like Wi-Fi, 5MP cam, and v4.0 Bluetooth.
It seems Google has got everything right with the new Nexus 7. The Apple iPad Mini’s next edition will be released very late this year or in the next year. So, Apple has got ample time on hand to learn something from the Google Nexus 7. Here is what they can learn from Nexus 7:
Decrease in Price
In 2012, the first gen iPad Mini was available for $329. On other hand, the new Google Nexus 7 is available for $229. The $329 price tag was only for iPad Mini with lowest storage space. A 32GB iPad Mini was priced at $100 more. By the way, to get a 32GB Nexus 7, you only need to pay $40 more. So, it would be really great if Apple launches a cheaply priced iPad Mini.
Better Display without Hampering Battery Life
Based on the feedback Apple received from its users, the 2nd gen iPad Mini will come with Retina Display. The Google Nexus sports the best screen resolution in the 7 inch tablet category and it still has huge battery life. Hence, Apple should not compromise on the battery life by supplying its users Retina Display on the next gen iPad Mini.
Feature like Multiple User Profiles
The Android 4.3 which released with the Google Nexus 7 allows users to make multiple user profiles. So, parents will be able to make kid-friendly profiles which will let the kids access only those content on the phone that have been preselected by their parents. The iPad Mini will be used by many users. So, it would be great to see such a feature come to iPad Mini.
