Is Xianomi Building Its Fame By Copying Apple and Samsung?

mi4Xianomi smart phones have been accused of seeking their inspiration in Apple and Samsung phones which has risen a big question: is Xianomi building its fame by copying Apple and Samsung?

Xiaomi is among the most famous phone brands in the world. The company has been based just 5 years ago and it has shown a rapid growth in becoming one of the most profitable tech businesses in the world. Xiaomi has an estimated worth of $46 billion and was given the nickname of the “Apple of China”.

Many of the devices released by Xianomi resemble quite a lot with the Apple products and the head of Apple’s design department has sort of accused the company for copying their products.

Apple’s representative stated that he doesn’t consider the similarities flattering  but he considers them stealing and it shows that the people at Xianomi might be to lazy to come up with a new design.

But the Chinese company has not left that statement without a reply and stated that iPhone 6 doesn’t have an original design and has features that have been on the market for some time.

Moreover, the iPhone 6 has a design similar to HTC which has had the same design for 5 years. Working in this industry doesn’t allow you to claim a complete ownership over the design of a device, a Xianomi representative explained.

Another difference is the fact that the Chinese phones are working on a “reinvented” version of Android. A new version of their operating system is being released every week, usually taking into consideration the suggestions made by customers.

A representative of the company explained that their feedback strategy is working on a very tight schedule. For example, Friday is the day the new version is launched. During the weekend the clients are sending them the feedback.

The first three days of the week they code the new features. On Thursday they are testing them and on Friday the operating new system is released and they restart the whole process over and over.

Xianomi’s CEO Lei Jun seems to have been studying everything that has to do with Apple and the late Steve Jobs including his image. When he participates at presentations he wears blue jeans and dark shirts just like the former CEO of Apple.

However, the negative image hasn’t seem to have affected the sales of the Chinese company which occupies the third place as the largest smart phone producer.

Xiaonomi is mostly known in Asia where it is enjoying its huge success. In 2014 the brand out ran Samsung and Apple sales in China. The tech brand announced that soon they will start selling smart phones in South American countries, like Mexico and Brazil.

At the beginning of April, Xianomi has broken a world record for the number of smart phones it sold online reaching a number of 2.1 million phones given in only 2 hours.

In September during a sale, the company sold 100,000 phones in the incredible time of 4.2 seconds.
