STATES CHRONICLE – Yellow Fever is making more victims and the authorities want to protect people from this virus. That is why a vaccination campaign will be launched, hoping that the virus would not spread in Europe too. The World Health Organization allowed vaccinating 14 million people against the disease. The problem is that the dose is smaller than it should be.
The authorities said they are trying to provide some protection since the vaccine is limited and it will take six months to develop another dose. Doctors say that their goal is to protect as many people as they can. This means that they will use a small dose, but they will vaccinate more people. The major issue is that the virus is spreading too fast and it could affect also Europe or Asia.
Yellow fever started in December, last year, and had caused 400 deaths in Africa. It is spread by mosquitoes. As symptoms, you might have a fever, headache or back pain. The good news is that millions of people have been vaccinated and they will be protected for life. Those who will get a small dose will have protection for a year, which means they will be in danger in the near future.
Researchers did not expect the virus to spread so fast and they had only 6 million vaccine doses for this year. What will happen if the Yellow fever virus will spread to other countries too? It might be a major issue for the whole world.
There is also another way to keep this virus away from us. The mosquito populations must be reduced. Something must be done as more people are infected. At first, there were only three countries where Yellow Fever was discovered. Now is spread in seven countries, which means that this virus is a problem for all of us. It is possible that we will see more people infected in Europe, Asia or America too.
Even if now most of us are safe, this does not mean that in the future Yellow Fever won’t be a danger to the whole world. They are already a threat due to Zika Virus. How much time will it pass before the Yellow Fever will infect Americans too?We should start paying more attention to the danger mosquitoes can be.
