Zika virus strikes again: US military members contracted it
STATES CHRONICLE – Pentagon spokesman, Maj. Ben Sakrisson, announced that more than 30 active-duty service members from the USA army have contracted the Zika virus. This unfortunate event happened while they were gone in the countries where the disease is identified. It seems like between those 41 people who have the virus is also a pregnant woman. This makes the situation even more difficult for the authorities.
Although they offered some pieces of information, the Pentagon officials did not want to say specifically which are the countries from where the military members had contracted the Zika virus. While the scientists are working on an official treatment for the Zika virus, the authorities keep asking people to stay away from the mosquitoes by any means .They are also offering for pregnant women the possibility to relocate from the areas affected by this virus. Military personnel and civilians as well should wear long clothes and stay inside as much as possible.
Zika virus transmission was reported also in many places , such as Central and South American, the Marshall Islands and Fiji. It seems like this virus is out of control and may affect major parts of our planet. You should know hat the Zika virus causes no strange symptoms so you won’t figure out if you have the virus until you will see a doctor. If you have contracted the virus, stay hydrated, avoid sexual contacts and wait until the virus take its course as there is no cure. It is known that mosquitoes have many diseases but this virus is more dangerous that anything we have know. It affects especially the pregnant women and their babies, causing brain damage. Regarding the pregnant woman in the US army, there was no information about her unborn child condition, but we hope for the best.
There were only 33 cases revealed on Wednesday, but the situation changed quickly and now eight more soldiers had been contracted with this disease. Although there is no official treatment, the Pentagon assured that all servicemen with the Zika virus are being provided with treatment. The locations where this is happening are unknown due to privacy issues. The authorities started the aerial insecticide spraying in Florida. This is one of the few actions they can take against Zika virus transmission.
