Samsung is currently working on developing Galaxy Note 3. The device may be announced later this year or early 2014. No brand has made any effort to compete with the Galaxy Note series phones. However, Nokia is making brave efforts to fight with the Galaxy Note 3. Rumors are doing rounds that Nokia is developing a Windows Phone 8 powered phablet device that is going to sport a huge 6 inch full HD display.
Nokia aims to clobber the Galaxy Note 3 by building a phablet whose dimensions will be larger than Galaxy Note 3. The phone is expected to launch in 2014. The news was reported by DigiTimes which has mixed track record of delivering forthcoming gadgets. By the way, Nokia has to do something to keep up the very competitive tablet market.
Even though many brands like Samsung, Sony and HTC were switching to large-screen sized smartphones, Nokia stuck around with a moderate sized (3.7inch) Lumia 800 which was the first Windows Phone from Nokia. Then, Nokia rolled out the Lumia 900 which came out with 4.3 inch display. Next, a line of larger smartphones were introduced such as Lumia 920, Lumia 928, and Lumia 925 which all sported 4.5inch displays. Nokia claims that it makes use of HD+ resolution on all the large-sized Lumia devices which supports more pixels.
A new flagship from Nokia may be around the corner as major update to Windows Phone OS is due. The new update will support 1080p full HD display which will appear fabulous on the large 6inch display of the forthcoming phablet. Even though nothing has been revealed yet about the predicted phablet from Nokia, rumors have it that the device could be availed at a price between $621 and $775.
At first, Nokia devices are priced aggressively but soon the prices are lowered after the device is launched. In US, the Nokia Lumia devices are available for $100 with a contract period of two years. Microsoft is soon to update the Windows Phone 8 later this year or in 2014. So, in order to showcase the new OS, there is a possibility that Nokia may announce a new device which could probably be a phablet.
The desktop version of Windows 8 will be updated to Windows Blue (Windows 8.1) first and then the Windows Phone 8 will be updated to Windows Phone Blue. Besides the phablet Lumia from Nokia, another device i.e. Lumia 625 is rumored to hit the stands. The Lumia 625 is going to sport a display which will be larger than the likes of Lumia 920 and 928. It is going to be slotted as a mid-range phone and offer display resolution similar to that of Lumia 800.
