The news is not official but rumors have it that the Windows Phone update which was scheduled to be released this year will not happen this year. The update will be available in 2014 due to serious bugs.
According to The Verge Microsoft is currently focusing on releasing as many as possible with the existing version of Windows Phone 8 OS. Microsoft is currently sticking to the ‘shut up and ship’ strategy which is nothing but company’s effort to remain in the public eye by releasing many Windows Phone devices and build their product.
According to very recent rumor the Windows Phone Blue update is marred with plenty of bugs that developers are now thinking about making the update available in 2014. Since the major Windows Phone Blue update is going to happen next year, Microsoft plans to offer new features in the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update which is expected to be available for the users in this year.
The new update is all about making the Windows Phone OS compatible with better hardware innovations. Smartphones are coming out with newer hardware features and Windows Phone OS developers are making efforts to make the OS compatible with such hardware features. Support for higher screen resolution and screen orientation lock is some of the features that are going to be added to the Windows Phone OS.
The Verge reported that developers found that because of a bug in the Windows Phone Blue update, devices strangely could not be identified on cellular networks. The developers were unable to resolve the issue and this has caused the Windows Phone Blue update to be available in the next year.
Even if the Windows Phone Blue update is scheduled to be out next year, Microsoft should make sure that the update is available at the beginning of the year. If Microsoft delays the update in the next year, Windows Phone users will not be seeing any major update for quite a long time.
If the update is delayed even more in 2014, brands like Nokia and HTC that are offering Windows Phone devices will end up releasing high end smartphones with GDR2 and GDR3 updates. This will certainly not satisfy their customers and the OS may end up losing popularity.
